The builders of my new house are using these 'look boon' , small cylindrical cement things in the foundations. Does anyone know the English word for these? The said they are something to do with keeping things straight.

ลูกปูน (Look Bpoon) shows up on google photo search as a small cylindrical concrete spacer with rebar poking out. They're used to hold formed rebar off the ground in rediness for concrete pouring.

That's great - I never thought of google. Thanks.
