Makro Sausage Skins

Featured Replies

Hi there.

Anyone use these sausage skins from Makro at 310 Baht a pack what size skins are they for large. or chipolata. sausages .

Im looking for both sizes can anyone help me locate them,

Thanks,

Pay the 310 baht, buy them, find out and tell us! Then we'll all know!

The local skins they sell in makro are ungraded and a bit of a nightmare to use. They're very tangled, have lots of holes in and some aren't cleaned/scraped well enough to use. Expect to only be able to use about 60% of the pack.

Most are about the equivalent of 34/36's but others are closer to 40 and some under 30.

I second seahorse's assessment.

The way I deal with the casings is to disentangle them all at one sitting. As I tease each casing out of the entanglement, I wrap it around a short dowel that I've made from the handle of a wooden spoon. I have lots of these dowels. Then I store the casings and the constricted dowels in a ziploc bog and use as needed.

And ignore the trolls. Your trepidation and hesitation are perfectly understandable.

My missus gets the pig guts from the market and uses that.....made about 4 kilo the other day...outstanding.

My wife also uses pig gut which she gets from her father, a butcher, and is good as anything I've had before.

My wife uses a cut-in-half sewing thread spool to push the sausage meat in.

It takes her a while to clean the gut but well worth it.
