Has Anyone Seen Dr Pepper?

Featured Replies

Where is Dr Pepper?

Some time back I was able to locate the soft drink Dr Pepper in the Mae Rim area in a small local restaurant and also at a neighborhood bar. Times have changed and the bar has closed, and the restaurant no longer carries it. I've looked in Rim Ping and Tops markets, and in lots of small shops as well.

For those who are unfamiliar with the taste of the drink, W.W. Clements, a former CEO and president of the Dr Pepper/7-Up Company, described the taste of Dr Pepper as one-of-a-kind, saying, "I've always maintained you cannot tell anyone what Dr Pepper tastes like because it's so different. It's not an apple, it's not an orange, it's not a strawberry, it's not a root beer, it's not even a cola. It's a different kind of drink with a unique taste all its own."

In your travels around town, have you seen it? If so, where?

Many years ago Jusmag had it stocked in BKK along with Mountain Dew.

I guess if he really loves it as much as he claims it is worth a 2000 Km roundtrip biggrin.png

I saw cans of Dr Pepper at the Rin Ping supermarket one week ago, the branch near the airport.

Not cheap, think they were around 55 baht a 330ml can and that`s why I didn`t buy any. I can remember that there were about 20 cans on the shelf, but no bottles.

Can`t promise that they still have them in stock, because I haven`t visited there since, but worth a look if you are traveling near the area sometime.

They appear from time to time at each of the Rim Ping stores. Sometimes they have it, alot of times they dont.

I've also seen several versions of Mt Dew for sell. Normally you see the Malaysia version of Mt Dew (real sugar, lower level of carbonation . Sometimes the American version (HFC instead of sugar). Recently I saw the "Code Red" flavor American version as well as one other flavor I don't recall (maybe the blue one).

This week in Rim Ping, I've also found that they are now selling the Euro/ American version of Red Bull (carbonated in a can). They also have Pepsi One (different artificial sweeteners than Pepsi Max).

Well, I was at the Airport Rim Ping this afternoon, and they were out of Dr Pepper. Not to go home empty-handed though, I splurged on a couple cans of Mountain Dew, which I haven't tasted for several years either. Knowing that Dr Pepper is available at Rim Ping from time to time, I will keep my eyes open, and avoid that much more expensive and much less convenient trip to Villa Foods in Bangkok.
