dan1 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Hi guys my wife has just arrived in the UK and I'm sure she will want to go to a temple in the near future the only problem being I don't know where any are. Any help would be appreciated .
fabianfred Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Depends where you are? I have visited Wat Buddhapatipa At Calonne road in Wimbledon, London. This serves a very large Thai community and they celebrate all the main holidays like Loy Kratong and Songran too. It is built like a Thai style viharn. Also i have been to Chithurst monastery in Sussex which is a branch temple of Luang Por Chah from Ubon.

Ystradyfodwg Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Google Thai temples in the UK and it will show you a list of different Thai temples and where they are.
GrahamR Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 In southern England I know Chithurst near Petersfield http://www.cittaviveka.org/ Amaravati near Hemel Hempstead http://www.amaravati.org/ And the one in Wimbledon Graham
socksy01 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 The one in Wimbledon Village, Calonne Road is the best in my experience and we had our UK Wedding (at a registrar's office) blessed there a week after we were married in Surrey, and some of the monks speak English as well. They also have a school there for Thai Children but I don't know any more about that.
beautifulthailand99 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Amaravati is a wonderful place set out in the country near Hemel Hempstead but quite hard to get to and follows the teachings of Ajarn Chah - the founding Abbott Ajarn Sumedho was a great man now sadly retired back to Thailand. Can also reccomend Wat Buddharam in Wanstead East London - all Thai monks with wonderful open hearts - always come back from there calmed and inspired. We no longer go to Wimbledon any more as the monks seem a bit remote and status conscious.
Simhne Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 If you fancy a trip up north.... http://ratanagiri.org.uk/home/
