Moving Items To Thailand.

Featured Replies

I have looked around the internet and have not come up with any answers, sure there must be some members who have done this and can give me some advice.

I have a pair of loudspeakers in Holland and i would like to have them send over here.

They are not new by any means (almost 20 years old) and they weigh around 55kg. each.

What is the best way to tackle this?Would i have to pay tax when they arrive here or is it up to the officer on duty?

Any idea what the cost of shipping would be?

Any definite do's or dont's?

There are already 60 million plus pair of loudspeakers in Thailand.

Some might be bought at a lower cost than shipping yours.

^ What he said.

It will probably cost you a ridiculous amount to have them sent over.

It would help if you named the brand of speakers.

Ok ,no problem JBL ti 5000 limited edition.

So they're worth around US$2,500.

You're not going to want to sea freight them (they won't ever be the same again), at 110kg air is likely to cost around 500 Euro (from UPS website).

As to customs at this end, if you're lucky the official rate is 30% of declared value + 7% sales tax (Thai commodity code 8518.22.90000), if you're unlucky and the customs man checks the new price of an equivalent unit in Thailand the sky's the limit.

I live in Holland and work for a hauling/shipping company.

110Kg in weight, i understand but the dimensions are also very important...

We can take care of packing them properly from where they are now and send them to Thailand.

What city in Holland are your speakers now?

Each speaker is 1200 x 500 x 400 mm and weighs 58 kg

Reading all the above reminds myself why I have never brought anything to Thailand I could not bring with me on the airplane even when it meant excess/oversize baggage including large musical instrument stuff.

JVS moght have a look here mostly in English: http://www.audiocity2u.com/Speaker/JBL
