Proving A Relationship Is Real

Featured Replies

hello again all,

i would just like to say that i have found thaivisa to be very helpful when researching information about visa's and migration issue's, it is good to see that people generally want to help out. From what i have been recently reading it seems that if a settlement visa gets turned down it is due to the fact that they do not beleive the relationship is real. Now if they do not beleive the relationship is real i take it that they think the thai person is just looking for a way to get out of thailand.. am i right? but my question is, if a thai girl has spent most of her adult life ( 4 years or so ) out of thailand in another country on student visa's and has visited many other countrys with stamps to prove it in her passport would that increase her chances of beleiving that the applicant is real due to the fact that if she really wanted to stay illegally in any other country she could have done it years ago?

my area of experience is with the Oz embassy so will give you a few tips

1/ get the partner migration booklet available from the website pinned at the top of this subforum.

2/ research old posts using the search function, there are many, I have posted extensively over the last few years

regards and good luck.

just having re-read your thread, I realised that I haven't addressed your question.

My wife spent time in Switzerland (6 months) with her sister's family, the case worker we struck, made her mind up that she had gone there with another man and the realtionship had broken down, and moved back to LOS, it was an assumption on her part and she openly admitted it, then challenged me to disprove it.

That woman no longer works there, a local MP did the deed for us, but there are some unpleasant CW there and the OZ bosses dont make life any better for you.

No.....you have to convince them that your relationship is genuine....Her being well travelled doesnt come into it unless she has travelled with you or to go and see you....

It is the history of her relationship with you that interests them.

:o

Both you and Burnsie are right. The immigration rules state that the applicant has to show that they intend to live permanently with their spouse and the best way of manifesting this is to provide evidence of the closeness of the relationship to date. However, the fact that an applicant has travelled widely for study purposes also indicates that he/she is not just looking for a way out of Thailand.

Scouse.
