Re-Entry Permits

Featured Replies

Crossing land border at Hat Yai, have Non-Imm O visa.

Are the 1000 baht re-entry permits available at the border?

Re-entry permits are not done at any border crossing (only at airports). You will have to go to an immigration office to get it.

If you have a multiple entry visa you don't need a re-entry permit.

They are only needed for single entry visas or an extension of stay from immigration.

*sigh*

That's what I thought.

Another three hours of driving out of the way.

Wonder why they aren't available at land crossings ...

Probably not enough demand at border crossings.

They even closed the airport offices a few years ago but then reopened them.

Had Yai has an immigration office that can issue re-entry permits as does Songkhla. Why 3 hours?

What's the current info on places to get a re-entry permit for people living in BKK, like myself? I searched not long ago and came across info that you could get one at Suan Plu at certain times, but a friend went to look into that recently and was told he had to go to Chaeng Wattana. Elsewhere I think I've read you can now get them right at Suvarnabhumi before departing. If that's true, I'd need to have it confirmed by a few recent experiences before I'd feel safe leaving it to the last day like that. Is there a recent thread that covers this? I'll go to CW if I have to (but only if I have to). Thx.

Can only be otbained at CW-raod in BKK.

Don Muang has a re-entry permit desk all day, Suv. is open only between 06:00 and 24:00 hours.

Suvarnabhumi in available 0600-2400 but does cost an extra free for copies/photo service done as part of there process. But this is after check-in so need to be early enough to allow. Chiang Watanna seems to be the only place to obtain if not served by the one stop center as have not seen any reports of anyone getting for the old office on Suan Plu for a long time now and that option is no longer listed on the new Bangkok Immigration web site.

The normal thing is to get one when you get an extension, or when you do your 90 day reporting, but too many people leave it to the last minute.

I will be getting mine when I do my next 90 day reporting as I leave Thailand about 1 month after that, and luckily enough my Immigration office is not always packed.

Clarification on 90 day reporting please. I have 1 year retirement visa, along with multiple entry visa. If I leave the country for a couple of weeks and return by air, the 90 days reporting period starts again from the date I return to Thailand, right?
Thanks.

yes the day you entered is day 1. You do not have a multiple entry visa if you do 90 day reporting, you might have a multiple re-entry permit with you extension.

Cool, I was researching that. Have you been there before? I'm arriving by train, easy to find?

You better check to see if they will give you one in Hat Yai. Normally immigration wants you to do your business at the office that does your extension.
