Went to the Ethiopian restaraunt on soi 3 Sukhumvit instead, food was interesting shame about the guys smoking, I don't care but the Missus has an aversion to snouts in a restaraunt......0

Oh my cod on Soi Rambuttri near Khao San sell liver and onions... They do mashed potato and bacon on the menu also.

Never tried it though as I don't like liver. D:

You've got me wanting liver now! It is something that I only eat about every 6 months or so but when I want it I have to get it.

So.... Having seen slabs of liver in the local fresh market.... How do I go about asking for it? Will I get calf liver or will it be adult beef liver... Pork liver?

There used to be Jools Bar and restaurant up Soi Nana on the left side past the Heidelberg.

They did great meals including liver, bacon and mash plus roast dinners.

It used to be owned by a guy called Dave I think and he must have enjoyed the food as his bar stool was especially made and reinforced with steel.

I haven't been there for years so I have no idea if it is still there or not. The Bus Stop a little further up on the other side did super Fish and Chips.

If you go to the local fresh market where there are stalls and vendors selling vegetables and meat, the pork vendor will sell pork liver and the beef vendor will sell beef liver. It will be adult liver, not calves liver. I usually look for the smallest liver with a deep red color.

Sorry, after I read my previous response it sounded a bit flipant, but wasn't meant to be. Where I live the vendors at the local market only sell one kind of meat, either chicken, beef or pork. Therefore the liver that they sell corresponds to the type of meat that they sell. The prok liver is most likely the youngest as I used to raise pigs and sold them for market when they were about 115 kilos or 4 months old. The chicken liver is fairly young also, but all bets are off when it comes to beef liver, calves liver doen't exist as it would require a market for veal and that market doesn't exist here..

Lol, the Western Food forum was probably the wrong place to review an Ethiopian place, I was merely mentioning what I had in the absence of Liver/Bacon options. Off topic!

Who cares...? it was a masterpiece of the oblique which is far too rare here.....

No offence taken. Pork it will be then,,,, thanks...T

Oh, every now and then the old sow or boar end up in the market, there's no dog food plant near where I live. If the liver looks like it can from a 50 year old alcoholic, I'd pass on it!

I never liked liver, until I went to Best Beef (moo kata) and barbecued my own liver... Delicious stuff, that is. Onions are also available, and french fries (but no mash, I'm afraid).

That just sounds a little too "Hannibal Lector" for my liking.
