March 7, 201313 yr What does this mean? One of our drivers used to say this to us every morning. Then whenever I say it to someone they laugh their head off.
March 7, 201313 yr Gadoy is a Khmer word for the female private part 'tem', I am assuming is full, the first word is difficult to be sure, depends on how its said. The meaning could be idiomatic, someone else will have to answer that.
March 8, 201313 yr It sounds like a joke, It might depend on who you are or whether the driver can afford to be rude. It is anybody's guess, if it gets a laugh, Could he be saying kateoys'?
March 8, 201313 yr Author Well yeah he could be rude so I apologize if it's profane. it's definitely not 'katoey' it sounds like 'maw dtem gadoy'
March 8, 201313 yr It's very hard to guess from phonetics, but maybe he is saying เหมาเต็มก็ได้ "Hire full/complete also can" meaning something like Could hire for the whole day Could hire the whole car if it really sounds like 'gadoy' rather than 'gaw dye' he may be putting on a funny accent, which may also be why he laughs. ...or the 'gadoy' meaning 'female private part' in Khmer is correct, in which case he's saying something like 'might as well hire the entire pussy'... more likely to elicit a laugh.
March 18, 201313 yr He may have been saying ม่เติมก็ได้ [ ma dterm gadai ]. Which means he doesn't need a refill. If so and depending on the situation and context that it was said in , he may have been telling you he doesn't need to fill up with gas. ?????
