Car Lpg Installer Needed - Reccomendations, Please?

Recommended Posts

Seems I have an LPG gas leak on the car and I need a decent LPG installer to sort the problem out. Preferably one who has a gas sniffer, but not essential.

Any reccomendations, for a good fitter, please?

At the rear of the old showroom for Proton on Sukhumvit Road 320/15, Moo 12 (right hand side towards Sattahip) Had LPG installed and tested & registered at the Transport Office in Pattaya. Sorry cannot remember name of company. Think phone number is 038 756 900

Yeah that one is good.

The only other reputable one I know of is about 100 m before Mini Siam when coming from Bkk.

It's actually a big petrol station, both regular fuels and LPG, and has a big LPG installer behind it.

Not the cheapest by far, but up to standard.

Stay away from the small shops!

Thanks, guys.

i've heard so many stories from those who've dealth with bad installations. And with a leak I really need to get it fixed. I'd rather pay a bit more and get the job done properly.

Report 1

This was my first point of call to have the LPG looked at. Sadly they all stood around looking at the engine wanting to make an assesment of an installation.

Yow (g/f) explained several times that we suspected a leak but they did not seem interested in that at all. No sniffer and no obvious signs of a mechanic. Bonnet up and they simply stared at the engine.

After about the 3rd time of mentioning the leak, Yow and I got blank looks. After almost 30 minutes of them staring at the engine under the bonnet they then said they had many cars to look at. I gave up and drove away.

This place seemed more interested in what looked like Car Hire than anything else. Maybe they have changed their set-up though on the phone they did sound confident about what they were saying.

Mini Siam. These guys obviously have a good set-up with all the right equipment.

Yow (g/f) spoke to them and explained about the leak and they immediately got a sniffer out and began checking all around the car. Yet they found no detectable leak. Up on the car lift the car was checked underneath from stem to stern. No detectable leak. This was a bit frustratine because no-one could understqand why the gas was there one week and almost gone 7 days later.

I came up with the idea of topping up with 300 Baht of LPG and coming back, so we had pressure in the tank. Less than 5 minutes later I was back. The car was put back on the lift and a second check was made using the sniffer. The mechanic found the leak very quickly.

The problem was a screw in valve had come ever so slightly undone - maybe due to vibrations on bad roads. This valve was located under a panel beneath the boot of the car. Obviously a very slight leak and only there when there was sufficient gas pressure in the system.

He got his spanners out and tightened the valve up. After that he double checked the car from stem to stern and found no other leaks.

Cost was up to me so I gave him 300 Baht and he was a happy man.

This place I would reccommend to people. Thanks for this post Monty :)

But thanks for the reccommendation. After all, only 3 people replied with those.

Sometimes it is down to whoever is there on the day, I've had this problem before and gone back another day and things have been great.

So, don't stop trying to be helpful because i am still grateful you took the time to post smile.png

I never dealt with the guy in Jomtien, yet heard many good things about them.

As you mentioned, they might have had a bad day, maybe chief mechanic on a day of or so.

The one close to mini Siam I dealt with several times, both new installations and correcting shoddy work done by other shops.

And also several times had an "up to you" bill

Good your problem is solved!

LPG systems when properly installed and looked after are just as safe as any other fuel.
