not far from pattaya and not rayong.. has baby one as well to feed

I thought they preferred bananas. I saw one in Nan about 2 weeks ago, but I've heard they are pretty much banned everywhere except a few rural villages. There are LOTS of places where to go see elephants, though. Why would you want to see one of the sad creatures used by the street beggers?

Yeah. As I explained already they are out-of-sight of the mass like in Sukhumvit and surroundings I think that somewhere in the suburbs they are still braking the law.

Since the authorities were enforcing the laws more the mahouts got more and more aggressive until the time I was with Karl Amman in Soi 7 where the Spiegel-Television crew and Karl was attacked even with a bull-hook which appeared on the German Television.

Any info about present presence, if there is, is welcome!

Thanks!

So now I understand. You want to get involved in another countries business and try to tell them how to run their country. I would concentrate on curbing Germans loutish behaviour in Thailand.

Might be you can ventilate your ideas in the Queen Sirikit Convention Center as the CITES meeting is still going on..................

I don't think I would tell you if I did see any.

You would photograph it and put on your pretentious website to massage your ego, and try to demonstrate how "concerned" you are about animals.

Why are you not more concerned about child poverty, lack of clean drinking water or spread of dengue fever, you know, things that really affect humans?

If you are interested in really interested in elephants, it is possible to see them at work in a few places, being well cared for. Or would that suit your agenda?

They are still roaming as beggars all-over Thailand, especially the tourist-areas but, living in BKK, I'm locally interested at the moment.

Out of curiosity, what do you propose to do when you locate the Elephants?

Is it photography?

What?

.

david , what do you think should we tell him or just keep quite , as the ones i see nearly every night has a baby as well , and i would not like anything to happen to them .

Well, the last photo in lower Sukhumvit (all are mine) was 25-7-2009 and after my visit to Safari World (also a touristic question-mark) with Karl and the reporters (Thilo Tielke was living many, many years in Bkk), they went to North Thailand to film undercover the baby-elephant smuggling from Burma into Thailand. Approximately after that time the (BKK) authorities went really tuff, although for the crowded tourist-places, and they disappeared from there (finally).

Indeed, Chokchai si is crowded but there are always hide-outs to find as I saw in lower Sukhumvit where they were lots of times able to disappear all of a sudden if for them necessary.

Would you be so kind to message me more about your Chokchai si, Ladprao and Minburi info? I'm living only around 13 kms. North of Minburi.

As far as the links I placed in my album they were from (very) trustable)

sources so I don't understand what you mean!

There is nothing I can tell you about that area, other than to say I have never seen any elephants in it.

I was refering to your statement, from one of the links you posted,

"Now they seem to be noticed near Chokchai 4, Ladprao, Minburi"

Noticed by whom, and where exactly, thats a pretty big area you are talking about.

The last time I saw an elephant in Bkk was about 3 years ago on Suk soi 4.

seen one in soi cowboy about 4 years ago.

Was it a chang noi?

you see the begging elaphants in udon a fair bit on the ring road during the week then they go into the city center at the weekend .

Used to be all over Sukhumwit. Crazy.

I see elephants in the Theparak Rd, Samrong/Srinakharin area every now and then. They come off the main road and wander around in the sois and moobans.

You will not find them in Bangkok, if you travel to Nonthaburi you will see them around Ngamwongwan road and Prachinwet 3.

I have seen one in Ngamwongwan 23 almost every night around 7pm.

that is the one I see all the time, it comes down from Prachiwet 3

Unluckily i have seen such a sad baby elephant this morning at http://goo.gl/maps/INmEC opposite the home pro suvarnabhumi (outbound)...

Calling the municipality of Samut Prakarn did not bring up much, they don`t care or the ones I had on the phone simply don`t know nothing (as so often)...

The police will jump on any one, with an Elephant in Bangkok, to many Elephants where getting injured going through he Pavements (sidewalk), causing damage to the pavement sidewalk and injuring the Elephant so it was stopped.

Somewhat unrelated, but sometime around '93/'94 I was sitting in a bar on Soi Cowboy (a one shophouse drinking bar not a gogo) and a baby elephant walked in, strolled up to the end of the bar, turned around and strolled out again. It was a good 5 minutes before either of us even commented.

We did both see it, so I knew it was not just the effect of too much alcohol.

Phuttamonton 4 across from Mahidol Uni. - usually seen in the evenings with mahout selling bananas, sugar cane for feeding
