BANGKOK: -- Neizens angry after Parliament Facebook pulls amnesty survey Parliament's Facebook team under House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont is facing howls of protest from the cyber-world for removing an online survey on an amnesty law after dislikes far outweighed likes.

"Why did you delete the voting results? Do you fear the real facts? You should accept the truth," posted Mossiam Mos.

In the three days from Thursday, when a question was posted on Parliament's Facebook page asking for comments, to Sunday night when the question and answers were pulled, there were 2,341 agreeing and 7,455 disagreeing with an amnesty law.

Social media users criticised the action.

Ploiiz Pyromancer Meowko: "You should show this poll at all times".

Joice Manukul: "You should show the poll to make people believe that you are sincere".

Arcom Thahong: "If you want a result like the result in your mind, you should do research in Red TV".

Mistertanom Pangpa: "Why did you delete the poll? This is a parliament that's always closed its eyes to people".

Rung Kha: "I already voted but now I cannot see my vote".

Auychai Kulpong: "Where is the other 29 poll on social media?"

Finally the admin page of the "Deep Search Team" posted an explanation: "A social media monitoring research house posted this question for more than 30 online media to collect 'deep' information from March 7-10 and then gather all information for data analysis."

Noppadon Kannika, director of Abac Poll, commented that this type of survey is called a "social mentions" survey and is mostly used by the business sector to gather marketing data or do deep analysis about how much a product is being mentioned on social media.

He added that when a social mentions survey was used to measure political opinion it was difficult to gather data because the majority of people do not use social media.

"The online survey was not scientific because it did not choose a representative sample" Noppadon said.

The admin post said researchers would analyse all posts called "Mention" by age, occupation, education and location.

Right. Most farmers supporting the reds and PTP do not have access to the Internet and know nothing about participating in online surveys.

What do you do when survey results do not support your cause? You discard it, you downplay it, you more carefully craft a new survey, etc.

So why did they do the survey then? Do you think they would have kept it up and published the results IF it had been in their favour? Of course they would.

How anyone with an ounce of intelligence could support the red shirt movement on here and not see the dirty and propaganda tactics they use is beyond me. Must be the influence of the woman indoors I guess.

This government has transparency high on it's list of immediate goals in the near future after having sorted out what it really means and how to make it possible to look through things as not to see them.

In the mean time any obviously incorrect, non-transparent data should be removed from government website so as to not confuse the Thai population with undesirable information. Obviously and for all to see and understand this has nothing to do with Internet censorship, just with good governance

Anyone with an ounce of intelligence should be able to discard the rhetoric (often mindless) they read on TV, and do their own observation, research and analysis so they can come to an informed opinion on what the red shirt movement may be about.

Such intelligent research and analysis would factor in the role of the external players who are using the red shirts for their own unconnected, grasping political ends.

Three to one against prolonging the Amnesty agony.

I would hazard a guess that's about right. Half the country voted for Thaksin and of those about half would still want amnesty for him and his cohorts.

75% against! Whoever came up with that bright idea just blew a shedload of brownie points.

It came from the "Great Leader" in Dubai.

He probably wants to spend SongKhran in Thailand, you see.

Should the external player/s remove his/their funding, would there still be a red shirt movement?

whistling.gif There's an article on the front page of the "Other English Newspaper" today, the one we can't mention on TV, that will give you all the info on where the directive about "amnesty" talk came from recently ... and who is behind it all.

Read the article.

Yep.

It would definately fall apart without external funding. Their messianic leader Jutaporn doesn't even take care of his poor old mother even though he is a millionaire. Esaan Rambo would not have the funds to send the farmers to Bangkok for protests. Same for Chiang Mai.

The poor red shirts that have been deceived into thinking the movement is for their well being would definately revolt against the PTP.

What do you do when your survey does not give you the answer you want? Pull it so nobody can see the results. Just like anything associated with PTP. Change or break any existing law, pull the survey, fire the pollsters that told PTP what they wanted to hear instead of the truth. When will they change the name of the country to TAK-SHIN-Thai?

Do you believe the credibility of your responses are directly proportional to the number of exclamation marks they contain?

In that case, we are all doomed, Doctor. thumbsup.gif

Is netizen a euphemism for "friendless <deleted> surfing the net for porn"

You sound to be in an informed position judging by the content of your remarks?
nope, not really.
