Help! Lost Luggage In Bangkok Minivan From Kanchanaburi To Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hello I'm on holiday on Bangkok till 15th march

Was touring in kanchanaburi on 11th returning same day from kanchanaburi to Bangkok bus stationon a minivan. We arrived in Bangkok but the driver did not know where he was going so we took a taxi to to the bus terminal. In the taxi I realised they I had left my suitcase on the bus. I tried calling the tourist office who i arranged the tour withbut it was closed. I stayed in the bus terminal till 11pm and missed my bus to Chiangmai. I was hoping that minivan driver would come and drop my suitcase but he never did. Now I am in a hotel and I am going to the tour office this morning.

My fear is that the tour operaters and tour guides don't work closely together and they won't be able to find my luggage hey was a 1000 pound laptop as well as expensive clothes and personal items inside the suitcase

I only have the clothes on my back my passport and wallet

I feel depressed and forlorn please help me.

Kiss it good bye...

I was trying to help a friend he had to get to the bus station earlier than me so I pushed the driver to get to the bus station. He told us to take a taxi. We rushed out but I forgot my luggage. If I had kept my mouth shut I probably would have made it to the later deparure

You put a £1000 pound laptop plus expensive clothes and leave it on a minibus in Bangkok? I hate to sound sarcastic, but your bag is gone, man...

Best help I can give you is to kick you out in the ice cold reality. Kiss it good bye.

I am going to to the tour office now, been chatting to you on my iPhone using hotel wifi. I have to check out now.tried 1137 they can put out a call to all taxis for lost luggage. But this was a minivan hired by a tour operator.

It feels good at least to put my thoughts down even if none replied in the short space of time I've given them.

Wish me luck.

When you go to the tour office, you might want to tell them that there's a 'REWARD' if you get you stuff back. Reward depending on what you think that it's worth to you. My wife left her phone in a taxi. She called the number and the driver answered. The reward that he wanted was more than the phone was worth so she nicely told him to <Snip!> off! Good luck.

Good luck mate, perhaps it hasn't gone and you will get it back. Don't give up and let us know what happens

There's a chance that its gone, but you know that already..

There is also every chance that the bag is in the Mini Van, but no one knows how to contact you (the Op).

If the Tour Agency that you booked with can't help you can try and find the Van HQ if you can remember it, they might know something.

Also after finding the bag the van driver may have left it at the local Police station...

Logic often works a different way in Thailand and positive results exist under the strangest and most impossible of circumstances...

And the verdict is.....luggage found!

I don't know how the hell it happened but my suitcase ended up with my original tour operator even though there is no visible I.D. On it. Anyway I rang up the tour operator who told me to go to a random street where my suitcase was delivered by a man on a motorcycle. I was then able to arrange a evening bus to chaing-mai, my original destination which I missed yesterday. spent most of yesterday hanging round bangkok, visted the grand palace and now I am in chaing mai about to go on a trek in 30 minutes.

So all in all a good ending.

Lesson learned forethat, I won't be taking anything expensive with me abroad anytime soon.

Always keep your most expensive items in a separate bag on you at all times!

Good to hear that the tour operator acted responsibly. The OP was pretty cool and collected about it all but making sure they had the contact number for the tour operator was the game maker IMHO.

There are 3 things the OP needs to do now;

1- Get a local SIM for his phone from 7-eleven.

2- Get some baggage tags with your name and the new phone number and attach to the bags.

3- Buy a cheap backpack for your laptop and travel docs and never, ever consign that 'out of sight' on any public transport.

Added security is take pictures of your bus, mini bus or taxi (the ID plate inside the door is easy to snap if you have a camera on your phone). Rego plates, bus numbers, operators names, etc.. make things a lot easier when hunting for lost stuff or filing reports.

Have a nice time in LOS.
