Gone
I know a few years ago I had my truck in my name because I paid cash for it but now my friend says that it is not possible and that it has to be in a Thai's name. Does anyone know if this is true or can I buy another truck without any Thai help?
bombis
Never heard such thing. Of course foreigners can own cars or pickup trucks under their own name.

Spoonman
To confirm your are talking about an actual truck yeah and not a pickup.
Gone
Just a regular pick-up truck. Anyways it seems you can. Thanks for the feedback good people.
PoodMaiDai
Sounds like Pattaya bar banter nonsense. Of course you can own a truck. Though, it wouldn't surprise me if we all woke up tomorrow and we were no longer allowed to own vehicles due to the huge numbers of Thai fatalities on the road.
Kilgore Trout
Interesting that you live in a world where there are only Thais and "Farangs." Might you be referring to non-Thai nationals or foreigners?
richard_smith237
Did this same friend also tell you that if you are in an accident the 'farang' is always wrong ?
reiltin
Did this same friend also tell you that if you are in an accident the 'farang' is always wrong ? Not true.I've had 2 accidents both caused by other drivers(taxis)first time '07 driver admited responsibility 2nd time '10 police kept taxi in station until drivers insurance agreed to pay hospital and repair costs(taxi driver fined 500B breaking a red)there were Thai witnesses who pointed the finger at the taxi driver I live in central Bangkok near a police station, don't drink and have insurance, licence etc.Not saying it's a fair system here but hey there not ALL bad.
