symzie
Hello again, well I've resigned from my job and want to come to Thailand. I don't want to work, or run a business, or buy property anymore, I just want to come and relax and travel around for as long as I can (maybe 6 months or longer) and use this time to look into things and then maybe look at a more permanent situation I'm British, 39 nearly 40 years old. What would be my best visa, I expect I'll need to renew it a few times Symzie
Noodles
Apply for a 2 month tourist visa from Hull or Cardiff Thai Consulates. This is then extendable for 1 month more at immigration offices in Thailand. If you plan on staying longer, you can go to Penang in Malaysia and apply for a 6 month tourist visa. Have a nice stay. george
Apply for a double entry Tourist visa before travelling to Thailand. That will give you 60 days+30 days extension. Then a border run and back, and you will get next set of 60+30 days. Total 180 days.

symzie
Thanks that sounds perfect, just one more question Is there a limit to how many times this tourist visa can be renewed? Thanks
dr_Pat_Pong
Thanks that sounds perfect, just one more questionIs there a limit to how many times this tourist visa can be renewed? Thanks there is the trick....that is entirely up to the consul at wherever you subsequently apply. But they are against long term stays on tourist visa's. symzie
Ok but surely there's a limit to how many consuls are practicle, Penang and a few others right?
dr_Pat_Pong
Ok but surely there's a limit to how many consuls are practicle, Penang and a few others right? Because of the sheer number of visa applicants in the Asian region, it is tougher in this region.
symzie
It's another very cryptic answer, the whole of Thailand is in Asia, what are you trying to say, it's tougher in the penang region, it's tougher in the whole of Asia, I rarley understand your answers sorry
dr_Pat_Pong
It's another very cryptic answer, the whole of Thailand is in Asia, what are you trying to say, it's tougher in the penang region, it's tougher in the whole of Asia, I rarley understand your answers sorry Well well....you have to apply for visa's OUTSIDE of Thailand. If one does it in Asia the Thai missions and posts are very very busy. Was this too cryptic for you ?
