Getting Blacklisted From Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi

Im just wondering what kind of offences get you blacklisted from Thailand?

Drink driving, overstaying visa, working without permit, theft, etc. Blacklisted is what.. a lifetime ban.. or a few years, or what?

Being prime minister.

drugs, theft, robbery, rape, murder, insulting the monarchy(if you survive it), getting nude in public, shagging a buffalo and buffalo die, getting shafted by a ladyboy, marrying-losing all your money and overstay, being poor, hey?this could be a fun thread..............

Asking dumb questions and expecting intelligent replies !

The Thais only get that competent and organized for serious offenses involving drugs and/or violence, or those involving a lot of publicity, which of course offending the monarchy would create. . .

Subject is answered in detail here;

I think the OP was asking about the reality of the situation, what is actually enforced.

Tens of thousands of people are deported in categories on that list but then freely return shortly thereafter.

^ True. Some fraudsters get incarcerated and deported whilst some convicted murderers walk free. The recent fad with farangs being banged up for DUI/DWI (drunk driving) is a case in point. For every horror story, there's at least one who has successfuly played the 'Monopoly' card,... if you know what I mean.

It's truly a lottery. The police bring charges, a judge (never a jury) rules. If the police don't like the judgement, they appeal and then it's the gulag for you. Sometimes money works, sometimes money doesn't.

The sun generally shines on Thailand but it does rain occasionally.

Depends on how much $$ you're willing to pay to keep off the list.

The Thai authorities would never be able to check the validity of the following:

5. Those who have not been vaccinated against smallpox or inoculated or undergone any other medical treatment for protection against contagious diseases, and have refused to have such vaccinations administered by the Immigration Bureau doctor.

Therefore, this rule is simply theoretical. I have never heard the authorities requesting documentation that confirms that such vaccinations have been administered.

3. Those who, having entered the Kingdom to take up employment as laborers or practice other forms of manual work that require no special skill or training, or who violate the Alien Employment Act.

Myanmar, Cambodian and Lao nationals violate this rule all the time, but apparently they are allowed to.

I have seen this 30 years ago at the Malasian Border. There was a cholera epidemic and cholera vacinations ere required. If you had the yellow card you were OK or if not were refused entry. The doctor at the border was quite disapointed I had a card. He opened his syringe box and touching the needle told me how sharp it was and offered to give me a shot free.

Just because you did something stupid doesn't mean everyone is equally gullible.

Good luck with the Buffalo Rescue Centre, the whole of Isaan's been crying out for one for years!

Raping a donkey in front of a Turk could easily get you blacklisted here.

An older German ONE legged! man was accused that he'd slept with many prostitutes unprotected, had AIDS and didn't inform them. That was what all the whores told the cops, nobody knows if it was true, they're obviously going for money ,as even weeks later women showed up and said they had sex with the one legged guy.( Guess almost all HIV positive women from that area accused that man)

To make a long story short. The guy got deported, pretty sure that they'd blacklist such a guy, if it was true or not.

But he came back after only a few weeks, maybe on a new passport, who knows.

Thai Immigration had a good excuse. They said that they had a problem with their software this time... w00t.gif

Square dancing in a round room, blacklisted for sure.

:D

Having Somtham in Sisaket, eating with a fork and knife could easily get you blacklisted forever.

Dear OP,

Get sound, LEGAL, advice before committing any funds into a Thai business venture. A good lawyer, accountant and interpreter would were first on my list.

And what kind of project/s would your investment "stitch" you up with the police? Has your girlfriend convinced you that you can make lots of money in a bar?

I got Blacklisted for non payment of VAT a few years back.

I was leaving the country and must have been on the computer system for non payment. I was led away by Immigration Officers to a special interview room and told that I had not paid tax. I remember asking how much it was and could I pay by credit card? Idiot.

They could not let me leave Thailand, but they did not know whether they could let me leave the airport as it was a late night flight, so I spent the night in the airport cells.

Was let out the next day, I had to deposit 1million baht as surety for the VAT and wait on an official audit. That audit took over a year to do which meant every time I left or came back I had to get a letter signed by Immigration and then processed through the Blacklist backroom at the airport (which took about 1 hour each time). Some officers knew how to process the documentation and passport, others didn't, but my passport was definitely flagged on the computer as every time I got the stink eye, the phone call and the Officer came to lead me away. Embarrassing.

Once the audit was complete a year later, the tax paid, I was finally given the all clear by Immigration and removed from the Blacklist.

So, lesson learned. My Accountant was at fault. Once you earn over 1.8million baht (if I recall correctly) you have to start paying VAT. I earned way more than that and did not pay VAT, hence my problem. Worth double checking your accountant and your statements.
