Senators To Sue Thaksin For Skype Orders To Party Lawmakers

Just to be a pedant he was not an elected official at that time, he was constitutionally a caretaker PM with no mandate. As to extradition, probably not, but if a serious infraction came to light with his involvement then all bets would be off. The tragedy in the South is viewed by some opponents of him and his clique as a possible Achilles heel.

But realistically I think not, but his position is not as bulletproof as some would have people believe.

To expand on this there are real legal and constitutional issues raised by his apparent flouting of the representational requirement and the organic law on the management of political parties. In my view and I am not alone there are possible charges that could be levelled, but as in a number of outstanding matters against him they would be difficult, under the existing and historic legal process to commence without his presence in Thailand.

No matter how much you tell some people the truth (as I have many times) they only believe what they want to believe,Anarchy and Terrorism is good, and Thaksin is the saviour of the people, and of course the old chestnut that he was illegally, and cruelly ejected from office by a Military Coup. I wish someone would explain: how he could have been ousted from office while in America, and no longer a PM? (at that stage he had stood down) and the Tanks rolled in to a Welcoming Reception from the People! which must have been the most welcome Hearts and Flowers Coup in World History, with not a single drop of blood spilled. It was almost the same as the "Army meets the People Day Celebration"

Now let's hear how the Puppet Master made his Bloody play to regain power,by Controlling/Paying the Red Shirts to Terrorise and hold the Bangkok people to ransom in 2010,from the safety of Cowards Bunkers Abroad, and Video Links ups! and plenty of cash for the troops, with most of them earning more money than they had ever seen in their lives. Incitement? he went way, way, further than that,

I also like the lie that the Redshirts were a spontaneous, grassroots movement looking for democracy for Thailand and justice for Thaksin. When in reality their genesis was a small death squad charged with the violent harassment of the Yellow shirt protestors during the Thaksin administrations. Following the coup they were expanded to a political pressure and agitation group employed by Thaksin to counter protest yellow shirts and later movement of civil disobedience against the Democrat lead coalition. These organised protests became increasingly more violent throughout the coalition government tenure. These protests/riots seems to correspond with events concerning Thaksin. The 2010 riot being in response to the seizure of Thaksins frozen bank accounts.

It would seem that Thailand is achieving what at least America, Great Britain, Canada and

Australia have. The appearance of democracy.

Where I come from we get to vote for either head of a two headed monster. One head gets to be more

attractive than the other at any given time, and yet the vast majority of voters still don't know these appearances are only skin deep.

One head usually represents the top end of town and the other suggests it represents the

workers.

The close to hung elections and compromise governments that have emerged in the West recently

appears to be a symptom, that the people are finding both heads really ugly.

There is a ruling class, which has most of the money and who pull the monster puppet's strings. This

maybe a group of Bankers, as in Europe or wealthy Thai/ Chinese families, as say in Thailand or in many Asian countries, there would be Chinese families behind the ruling classes, including bankers.

In all the confusion coming out of this Thaksin/ coup/ democracy (pantomime) good description, there

is a consistency of appearance suggesting a certain amount of collusion at the
top end on a "needs to know" basis. We need more politicians of the
class, for example of Tony Benn, British ex-MP, who was a whistle blower on
this system.

In the tier down from the top, a group of sometimes well meaning politicians battle it out gamely with

the ruling elite, getting nowhere.

Unfortunately in Thailand the laws prohibit criticism of certain people and possibly their affiliates.

Even the suggestion of corruption or non-democratic collusion could land you in
jail. To move any of these entrenched political systems in favour of the "actual"
people is extremely difficult and freedom of speech is essential. Thailand's
laws do not permit it.

Many Thais I speak to are quite aware of these anomalies, and regard themselves powerless to change it.

UPDATE:
POLITICS
Senators to sue Thaksin for Skype orders to party lawmakers

Khanittha Thepphajorn
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra could face charges for allegedly committing a constitutional offence by ordering Pheu Thai Party ministers and MPs via Skype to amend the Constitution and push for the Bt2-trillion loan for the country's infrastructure development.

Appointed Senator Paiboon Nititawan said he believed Thaksin had violated Article 68 of the Constitution by attempting to overthrow the country's democratic system and seeking to gain control over the country's administration when he addressed the Pheu Thai Party meeting through Skype last Tuesday.

He said he and other Senators would file a complaint with the Constitution Court seeking an investigation against Thaksin.

"The New York Times has reported that Thaksin uses Skype as a tool to run the country and join in Cabinet meetings," he said.

Paiboon said Thaksin had ordered Pheu Thai Party ministers and MPs to amend the Constitution to give the government more power and reduce the power of the courts, the Senate and independent agencies. "Thaksin's orders to them would enable him to gain control and power to run the country, in an unconstitutional way," he said.

Meanwhile, appointed Senator Somchai Sawaengkarn said he expected the country's political temperature to rise because ministerial directives have been issued on Friday to allow prisoners to be able to travel within limited zones. The privilege is given to four groups: prisoners whose lives may be in danger; prisoners whose parents, spouses are his financial dependants; prisoners who are ill and need continued treatments; and, prisoners who are given leniency. The four groups of people do not have to be detained in prison but are given electronic equipment through which their movements can be monitored.

Government chief whip Amnuay Klangpa said political temperatures may not rise this month because the amnesty bills and reconciliation bills will not be deliberated in Parliament during this session which ends in two weeks.

As Parliament is set to deliberate the Bt2-trillion loan bill before the session ends in such a short time, it is unlikely the amnesty and reconciliation bills would be on the agenda for deliberation in this session, he said.

Amnuay was responding to Pheu Thai party-list MP Niyom Worapanya's move to table an amnesty bill for House deliberation. He said the MP wanted to see the country move forward but he did not believe the bill would be brought up for deliberation within this Parliament session.

What hope dear senators when you as a country cannot get anyone to extradite this convicted criminal on bail jumping and inciting riots resulting in death, let alone all the cheating and fraud he is also allegedly involved in? Why not just have the loan and constitutional changes quashed by criminal association and head off to the pub to celebrate a small victory? It has to be easier from within this country for that result surely.... as thinking (dreaming) you will ever have justice served here - is folly.

No democratic country on the planet will extradite Thaksin, as he was an legally elected official, ousted by a military coup.

At the time of the coup d’état Mr. Thaksin had gone past his mandate to be in government. When he disbanded Parliament he had 60 days to hold new elections. The Democrat Party boycotted the election and, as Thai law says an uncontested candidate must get at least 40% of the registered voters' votes (not 40% of the votes cast), the Thai Rak Thai Party paid other political parties to contest the TRT. The TRT got caught and disbanded. Mr. Thaksin's mandate had expired but he simply moved back to Government House and there was no authority to remove him; thus the coup d’état. Personally, I think the Army made a big mistake. Even if it took another year, Mr. Thaksin should have been removed by a court of law. The simple truth is: Mr. Thaksin was illegally removed from a position he illegally held. Mr. Thaksin was not popular even within his own Party at this time because the day after he changed the law, on percentage of the country's telecom sector could be sold to a foreign entity, he sold 49% of his company to Singapore and pocketed $3.3 Billion on which he paid no tax. That trouble in his own Party is why he called for new elections. Mr. Thaksin's problems were brought on exclusively by Mr. Thaksin's greed and underhanded business practices. Thailand's problems are brought on exclusively by Mr. Thaksin's inability to admit he was wrong. Later, just as the notorious Chicago gangster, Al Capone, was brought down by tax evasion charges, the mighty Mr. Thaksin was brought down by insider land deal between his wife and a department of the government.

Do a bit of research before spouting nonsense

Overthrow is a bit of a stretch. Would be better if it came from an 'elected senator'. The entire cabinet should have been impeached ages ago for this, while he was still banned. Technically there is nothing wrong with giving advice, but receiving a skype call during a cabinet meeting regularly, from someone who is a fugitive from justice is just an absolute joke and all of these men and women need to be hauled before a parliamentary enquiry, along with their passports showing where they've travelled to in the past 18 months, to explain themselves. They should be cross-questioned to see if they're lying about where they went and why.

Plain and simple solutions will disqualify you from being a politician in Thailand.

The problem with Thaksin is that he uses Microsoft's Skype. Everyone knows that Apple's FaceTime is completely acceptable.

He will just say he didn't do it. Easy as pie, for a man who is genetically incapable of telling the truth. All his sheeple will go along with whatever he says, and none of them have a modicum of scrupples about telling the truth. End of issue. What's next?

......plus it keeps T's name and mug shot on the front of Thai newspapers, and that's what he and his lawyers want to perpetuate.

Just another example of "knee-jurk" reaction without any thought involved. But then, what percent of the Thai population knows how to think things through, what with the education system teaching nothing but "rote"? This will be yet another example of wasted time and money with zero positive results.

yes, he should research up the fact that exactly 389 democratic countries extradite Thaksin already 439 times.

but wait. never happens. how come?

how is money wasted here?

that is part of the democratic process/ system and the senator are entitled to do so. actually every thai citizen is and if he observe something that he thinks is highly unlawful and violates the constitution it is right and duty to inform the authorities about. even more if the government is involved in perceived wrongdoings. investigate! that is check and balance.

I'm sure the modern law of Thailand will be very appropriate to address the involvement in a meeting by video link from another geographical region....should be interesting

Every decent man knows that discussing confidential Government matters via Skype or eMail is an invitation for outsiders to listen/read. So every time Thaksin gives the Thai Cabinet one of his roastings the CIA and the Chinese Secret Service are attentive listeners. This of course is not only jeopardizing Thailand's security, it is also affecting Thailand's foreign policy.

That you fail to see the obvious comes as no surprise. How about posting less and thinking more in advance?

Omg. is that true? those pesky foreign spies. the government should call the American ambassador and respectively the Chinese one and demand an explanation.

btw. i read nothing in the OP that this would be case of breaching security. did you read that between the lines or were you thinking aloud while reading and heard these voices telling you that.

could you tell me more about your advance thinking techniques? chang in the morning?

do you think it it could be the case that it is actually Thaksin behind all these charges? that he made that up all himself just to keep his name in the press?

I think you'll find that Sondhi, the darling of the right wing, holds that record - 5 go directly to jail cards so far, the last one being for a 20 year sentence yet still out on bail !

A country will only extradite a criminal / fugitive to another country, providing an extradtion treaty exists, if the country requesting extradtion makes a formal request and produces evidence to satisfy the authorities in the requestee country.

Does the UAE and Thailand have an extradtion treaty?

Is it likely that the current government, controlled by the fugitive in question and dominated by close family members will actually ever issue an extradtion request to anyone? I don't think so, especailly as they have already illegally issued a new passport to him.

Well they only have to wait a day and then come on this forum or buy a copy of The Nation. Apparently every last word that is uttered in cabinet meetings is passed to them by a "source" and printed as gospel so it must be true.

Yes and then he would find out that Thaksin was caretaker PM, elections had been royally endorsed, the democrats were campaigning, Thaksin had said he would not stand for those elections and then within weeks of the election, an illegal coup overthrew the caretaker government. Would you care to argue with any of that? Well I'm sure you will, but do you have the evidence to back up your beliefs?

We are all well aware of who and what pulls the strings of the marionette puppet maladministration.

Thaksin is hanging on to his dream, or should I say the peoples and the nations nightmares as firmly as rock climbers hang on to ledge as they ascend or descend from a mountain

Thaksins dreams create a veritable whirlwind of lies and deceit in his multitude of minds in that which his minds see as their fight against his self perceived injustices that thwarted his dictatorial aims along with his schemes for establishing a new ruling dynasty and an ever open door to the nations coffers for him, his family and their brown nosing acolytes.

These pictures in his mind and the voices he plainly hears chanting to him justifies to Thaksin and his ilk their visions for their nation and as they see it their people too.

Slowly though the cracks are appearing in the wall of deceit and fantasy that Thaksin has built around himself and his family and their brown nosing acolytes as the senators moves show , note also now members of this coalition maladministration are starting to query that which comes from the Thaksin minds and mouths.

Those who have seen and tasted the fruits of Thaksins tree of deceit are suddenly becoming aware that the fruit is for Thaksin his family and their brown nosing acolytes alone the foot soldiers get the windfalls and damaged and bruised fruit whilst the first class fruit goes to the new amart. .

The cork is out of the bottle and it isn't going to go back in again, the enemy is within the walls and within the house of Thaksin, such a situation will prove to be his downfall and the downfall of those who run with him.

Remember Thaksin , ''You can fool all of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

Meanwhile, his poxy (bad spelling) gov. is destroying the country. Watch Hitler's speeches and note the resemblance.
