There are no big questions or options. All you have to do is ask immigration. The money comes from abroad if you do not legally work in Thailand. Just because every item is not broken down in detail on the Immigration web site does not mean it is not true.

That said we all know the exact procedures used to verify this transfer can vary from office to office.

This is the requirement as published by the sponsor of this forum who I suspect has had more experience than any of us:

To obtain a long term extension of stay:

To obtain a long-term extension to that entry permit on the basis of supporting a Thai spouse, then what you need to do is open Thai bank account bearing your passport name, and remit into that account from overseas an amount of at least 400,000 baht - and do so each year.

Money overseas does not count. Money withdrawn via ATM does not count. All that counts (unless you have legal income from legal employment within Thailand ) is - exactly - documentation of 400,000 baht remitted from overseas into a Thai bank account bearing your passport name. In advance of applying for annual renewal of your extended entry permit, you will be required to wire another 400,000 baht to your Thai account. This process must be repeated for each extension of stay.

It's strange. For get an extension based on marriage you must to have 400k in the bank or 40k a mount as a income. (in this case not from abroad because you have a WP)

You have 45.000 and so I don't understand why they no give you the extension.

simply, because is not limited partnership or company limited,so immigration think that i not pay tax enough :o

this say to me official immigration and lawyer

off course,is not right because i pay anything about income salary tax and prakan sam kom,but is true, only if you are inside in the company can gate visa long-termin NON Bshowing only salary and income tax(and tax that your company pay included balance)

so,he want to see WP +400k everyyears(come off country, inside the country, the sam ,is not different)

for me no problem, off course money can come inside thailand (not necessary everyyear, only 16 months ago i put money in account and still have this money in bank without anymore add in this account bank)and showing WP,som never i got some question or problem :D

Heres one that really throws me, I have a friend, single and a english teachers with work permits.

At the top end he can make 36 K a month, on an average 30K.

At 36 K month he really does pretty good as he may not be married but is in a very steady realtionship, so his life style is more that of a married individual. At that rate he is working a lot and not much time to play.

At 30K it's really difficult one big difference is that when he has more time to play he needs more money just like anyone else.

He gets his visa's, but yet financially he doesn't qaulify.

Maybe that is where the descration ( Spelling ? ) of the officer comes in.

Each Office is a bit different in requirements, but they still have to follow the law of the country. However, that can ot truly understand that law themselves and it becomes a matter of proving your following the law.

As an example last year in Nong Kia, I handed the mandantory bank letter stating I had for the marriage visa, stating I had 400K in the bank and the money was transfered from an account outside of Thialand. Thought that would be enough. It wasn't the officer wanted to see the 40 K a month as well. That simply is not waht the law says. I could have fought with her, but why bother. I have found that your not going to change some people minds even if your right. In this case I could provide what she was asking for and just gave it to her.

When I first came here I was single needing 800K in the bank I didn't have it but I did have the 65K a month. I was told by the same officer 800K and 65K a month. I argued not with her but through a Thai friend who knew the commander, very low key stuff. I find anywhere in life that it is not best to bring out the big guns until you have to. The commander agreed that the law said or, not and.

The officer argued with her Captain about this even when the commander had made a ruling and had just called the Captian 10 min's before my interview. finally she was directed to leave the interview and the Captian took over.

Next year different officer no 400K in the bank and no problem.

Now here I sit with the original officer two years later her postion it is still "and" I have learned my lesson, first I see no reason to have 400K in the bank if they are not going to recognize it.

This year I will immigraton officer shop, in other words I will avoid the and lady :o

I will seek out the officer who understands the law and cares not to rewrite it. :D

Having worked in Government most of my life I really don't find it much different here, in my past I saw those who decided that thier power was more important thento follow the intent of the law. I'm sure that many have seen this in thier home countries. There are those in the government that look for how to accomplish a task and those who try not to accomplish the task.

I realise it can be frustrating, but the end goal of a home here is worth it in my mind :D
