Non Imm O Extention To Expire In One Month, best Options?

Featured Replies

Hi, My non Imm O ext is about to expire in one month, went to Imm today to see if a bank guarantee from my Thai lanlord would suffice for having the seasoned 800k in my account but she only confused me.It is all to late now to bring funds in by 5th May and be seasoned,My best options? once the non Imm O ext has expired can I still apply for a retirement extention or do I have to go back to Aust and get another Non Imm O ? Thanks to anyone that can help even regarding a Thai National going bank guarantee as his money has been seasoned for years thanks.

You must have the 800K in the bank in your name only.

If you have some income that can proven by a letter from embassy you could use the combination of the two and not need the money to be seasoned (at the majority of immigration offices).

If you can't get the extension then a trip to any nearby embassy or consulate for a new single entry non-o is not a problem. No need for a trip home.

Once expired, you can extend anyway if it is just a few days late but must pay a fine for overstay at 500 a day. Hard to say where they will draw the line and tell you to apply abroad. You don't have to go back to Australia, but can get a non-O visa in a neighbouring country.

The rules for an extension are:

- showing 800,000 baht in bank account in Thailand in your name. Money must be there for 2 months for first extension and 3 months for every next extension. (a bank guarentee is not going to do the trick)

OR

- show an income of 65,000 baht a month. (Income from abroad must be certified by letter from your embassy. Your embassy decides on what proof they need to issue the letter)

OR

- a combination of money in the bank in Thailand and yearly income, together totaling 800,000. (Income must be certified, but money in the bank doesn't have to be seasoned).

The last option might do the trick if you have an income. Receiving it in Australia is fine.

thanks for the reply,so if I can show income and get stat dec from aussie embassy,of say, bank interest on funds in Aust, this will negate the 2 month seasoned requirement,I am busily transferring funds now to have the 800k but it wont be seasoned, but with the income dec it will negate the seasoned bit?

Correct.

If you can get statutory declaration you will not need to have funds in the bank for 90 days.

If you are living off your savings in Australia and have a total equal to or greater than 780,000 baht which would equal 65 K baht monthly income you could show that amount on declaration and not need the money in the bank at all.

so can declare monies transferred from aussie account to thai account for living expenses for 12 months as well as income earnt from interest?Just show the aussie embassy the transfer statements?

I don't think you will have to show anything.

But bank statements, transfer and etc would be good to have.
