Drunk Monk forcibly disrobed at South Pattaya Temple

PATTAYA:--A monk, who was unable to provide any ID papers, confirming his ordination, was detained by Pattaya Police early on Thursday Morning, following complaints from a restaurant in Jomtien who spotted the monk who appeared drunk and aggressive.

Police arrived and detained the monk who claimed he was on a pilgrimage from his Temple in Nongbualamphu Province in the North-East of Thailand and had set up a camp in woodland inside Soi 58 off the Sukhumvit Road.

Police accompanied the monk to the area and located the camp. Items including dried noodles, a radio, cartoon books and a piece of paper with lottery numbers on them was found and it was decided to take him to the Chaimongkol Temple in South Pattaya to discuss his actions with the Chief Abbot.

It’s against the law to leave your house in Thailand if you’re not wearing underwear. Every mother who has ever admonished her child to not leave the house without clean underwear will at least be partially pleased by this law. If only there were some stipulation about the cleanliness of said underwear here, every mother would send her children to Thailand to have the rule ingrained in their heads.

After smelling the monk and seeing how he was acting it was quickly decided he should be disrobed

Returned like a bad wine.
