April 8, 201313 yr Just seen this in the news section - http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/631599-yingluck-hospitals-must-accept-all-accident-victims-during-songkran-period/ Do you think the samui hospitals will follow ? , cant see BKK Samui treating people without medical insurance !
April 8, 201313 yr So who will pay for the victims if they can't pay for themselves? I hope all hospitals follow (not only during Songkran), but someone has to take care of the bill!
April 8, 201313 yr The law was changed a while back that ALL Thai hospitals had to treat emergency victims. What they do after the initial treatment though........... On Samui, they are shipped off to Nathon as soon as they can be moved. The government picks up the er bill. Falling off your bike and having multiple cases of the Samui tattoo does not count! Emergency victims only.

Emergency victims only. Well, good to know (if it is followed through) I believe that it is. For one reason or another I visit one of the hospitals on Samui almost every other month. I have seen a few cases of Thais unconcious after a mb accident, older Thais - heart attack - etc. Now I may be mistaken, but in quite a few cases, these Thais did not look as if they could afford private insurance and they were receiving the same attention as everyone else. Yes - stereotyping maybe, but realistically so.
April 11, 201313 yr I'm sure they do it for Thais.... yes they take seriously injured victims for thais they get taken normally to thai inter then assest then send to the hospital that suits them finanacially and phyically
