Replace The Kick Starter On A Honda Wave In Cm?

Featured Replies

I have a 10 year old Honda wave 100 with about 63000 K on it. . . . . . it is a well seasoned little bike. The kick stater "almost" seizes up about 50% of the time. Meaning I have to jiggle it and roll the bike a bit before I get a solid "kick". Sometimes it makes a very unpleasant snapping sound when I kick down. I assume the starter needs to be replaced.

So my question: anyone have a recommendation for a place to do the job here in CM and what I could expect to pay? My inclination is to take it to a Honda dealer.

On a side note, do dealerships here in CM do trade ins? I'd like I newer bike but even if I upgrade I still don't want to sell the bike with a bad starter. A dealership would know what they were getting into, and that would be different.

Thanks in advance for any input,

1. Take it to a dealer, will be relatively cheap to repair. Sounds like kick starter spur gear worn.

2. I would suggest the main Honda dealer 1km past Narawat bridge on the right heading out of town.

3. My guess 1500 baht inc parts and labour.

4. You could take to a corner shop but why take the risk?

5. Treat yourself to a new bike, no need to get repaired beforehand just be honest when you sell it. Money well spent, if you can afford it.

6 Yes they will take a PX but don't expect much.

7. Sell privately.
