Where To Buy A Bbq From Specialist Bbq Shop

Hi all,

I am looking for a BBQ from a specialist shop, not from Homepro, Macro, Home Mart etc. They don't appear to be good quality stainless & longevity may be short.

There is a guy in Udon Thani but he is expensive, having said that they seem good quality & he will ship anywhere.

I thought there was one near the Floating Market on Suk but they must have closed/moved.

Cheers & thanks for any help in advance

There is a specialist BBQ shop on Thepprasit one block down from Thapraya , right hand side.

I bought a small charcol BBQ there , they have all sorts and good charcol, wood etc.

Gas BBQ s expensive but good quality.

The ones from Doc up in Udon are fantastic. Super heavy duty, double walled stainless steel. Not really much different from the prices at other places, if you look at ones that are comparable. Here's a pic of mine. We've used it almost every day for the past 3 years. My wife even bakes with it.

They are hard to beat, good quality and will outlast all the "named brands".

I will be in Udon at the end of the month for a few days, will pop around & have a look.

Thanks

We were looking around town for a new BBQ and found the DYI shop opposite Lotus on Sukhumvit had a quite decent selection of very high quality stainless steel BBQ's ranging in price from 30-70k baht. After thinking about it for a while, I had a look in Google and found a couple I like:

Or something like this

I'm not sure of the cost of building this, maybe about 5k in materials and another 5k in labor, in any case a lot less than what they sell in the shops, lasting a lot longer and, at least for me, more aesthetically pleasing.

That last one looks great! But I'm tired of dealing with charcoal. I do think it's better for BBQing, but the cleaning up is no fun!

Here's doc's website:

Slightly off topic but why waste money on a gas hotplate ? That's not a BBQ !

I like the look of the first of Phil's exapmples above - meat over flames ( embers) is the only way to get a true BBQ taste , added wood smoke mesquite etc is good too.

A BBQ is used for many things, not just cooking meat. But for meat, charcoal is fantastic. I use to have a hibachi with a cover that gave a great taste to cooked meats.

And their website is

http://www.bbqthai.com/

I have the 4 burner downunder BBQ, cooks dead cow to perfection.

The next problem is where to find a good cow with a death wish...

Oz dead cow at foodland is pretty tasty, if the pirce scares you head over to Freindship and buy some the Thai/French hybrid stuff, it's not tooo bad either.

Steer clear of the Thai beef, its rancid but ok for stews.

Gas BBQ's with a hood is awesome for chicken with a can or beer up de ass (note this is my old BBQ).

Looks good , but can do in the oven same.

Did you leave some of the beer in the can ?

Still meat over burning charcoal for me , corn cobs are good too.

BBQ is with charcoal. Gas is for stoves. Simple, innit? B)

There is also great dead cow to get at the prime beef butcher a few shops west from Foodland. Was never disappointed!
