Immigration Police recently arrested two foreigners, a fugitive Scandinavian murder suspect and an alleged African drug dealer, a senior officer told a press conference Thursday.

Swede Bakken Geir, 53, wanted in a murder case in Norway, was arrested at his home in Chon Buri's Bang Lamung district where he lived with his Thai wife, Immigration Commissioner Lt-General Suwat Thumrongsrisakul said.

Geir arrived in Thailand in 2002 and ran a restaurant in Pattaya. His residence permit was revoked after it was confirmed that he was wanted in Norway and he will be deported soon, Suwat said.

Suwat said the other foreigner was suspected cocaine dealer Afdul Dialo, 29, who was arrested in a sting operation in Bangkok's Wattana district following a tip-off.

However, police found only one kilogram of baking soda in his possession. Dialo told police he had sold his stock of the drug to other customers and was trying to cheat a first-time customer.

Suwat said Dialo would be expelled from the country because his behaviour was a threat to society.

The press releases for cases like this always try to imply that the Thai police busted the guy through tireless detective work and dedicated policing. That is never true. What is always true is that somebody grassed on the poor bugger and told the cops exactly where to find him and what he was wanted for. His 'Thai wife?' A pissed off business associate? A tourist from Norway who happened to recognize the guy? That's always the really interesting part of the story. Anybody know what happened here?

Searched high and low for more details, such as anythings about the original crime he alledgedly committed and the restaurant he owned in Pattaya, without success...

I would loved to have sat in on that interview where he confessed he was going to attempt to pass it off as cocaine, and that he had previously sold actual cocaine. I am sure the Thai police followed their equivalent of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, and no pressure was put on him and he had access to a lawyer etc.

coke + soda = crack (one of the most evil), knew of two schoolfriends whos lives went downhill in a bad bad way, families affected. One got rehab i heard and the other last was seen homeless by someone I know. The stuff is on a par with smack and worser than coke alone. My guess is that this guy was processing and was know to the police too. If thats the case he's pretty much on par with the murderer IMHO. Thailand does seem to often attract the dregs of society from around the globe. Even stranger they mostly seem to head for Pattaya!.

I have a feeling that i met this man in Phuket some years ago.

Anyway his name was also Geir and he was born in Sweden from Norwegian parents.

The family moved back to Norway after just a few years. He had a Swedish passport but was speaking 100% norwegian..

He was also seen in pattaya recently.

I remember him as a very nice man, sympatic with humor.

Didn´t mind taking a drink or two...

Anyone knows what kind of restaurant he was running and where in pattaya
