Bomb Attack Targets Baghdad Café, At Least 25 Killed

Featured Replies

BAGHDAD, IRAQ (BNO NEWS) -- A planted bomb attack targeted a crowded café in Baghdad, the Iraqi capital, killing at least 25 people, local authorities said Thursday.

The attack took place on Thursday night at around 9:30 p.m. local time at a popular café located in Baghdad's al-Amriya neighborhood, when the device, reportedly packed with around 2 kilograms of explosives, detonated.

The explosion ripped through the three floors of the building, where an ice cream parlor, medical offices, and a café and billiard are located. Most of the fatal victims were young men, although there were also reports of a woman and children dying in the attack.

Baghdad's al-Amriya neighborhood is home to mostly Sunni Muslims, and the incident might have been a sectarian attack. In addition to the 25 fatal victims, there were also more than 50 injured. The death toll could still rise, while some media outlets also reported up to 27 deaths.

So far, no replies to this topic whatsoever. Let's see. Seventeen people killed by a bomber in Pakistan. Now, 25 killed by a bomb in Baghdad. In Texas, up to 60 people killed in an explosion. Scores killed in an earthquake in Iran. Turn on the news, and what do you find? Endless, non-stop coverage of five people killed in Boston. Some lives, indeed, are worth more than others, especially in American newsrooms and on TV fora.

If there were live coverage of a bombing in Baghdad, and the hunt for the terrorists in real time, I'd watch it. smile.png
