Leaking Pools

Featured Replies

As I have received a number of calls recently about leaking pools I thought I would share a recent experense we had that shows what can happeen to a pool that is improperly built.

When we were first contacted by the owner to remove the old tiles and apply Pebble Tec he told us that the pool had been leaking, so we did a dye test first and found the leak by the light fixture once we started to remove the tiles we discovered what you see in the attached picture

This particular pool was built and then developed a leak around the light fixture after several years. The water once trapped became acidic and started to eat the cement. In this case over a 5 year period the water migrated thru 75 % of the pool walls from 2 areas 1 around the skimmer and the other around the light fixture.

Sorry I do not know who built the pool 8 or more years ago. The point here is what a leak can potentially do if left alone over a period of time.

The pool we did right before this one also had damage that we were able to repair for 3000 baht as it had not stated to leak yet but was getting close .

Had that pool been left for another 5 years it would have had similar damage .
