Thai Rail To Butterworth

Featured Replies

Living on Koh Samui i need to do a visa run to Butterworth (Definately no Coaches or Mini busses). I was 'tearing my hair out' trying to book a railway sleeper from Surat Thani, but with no luck, it seemed impossible.

Then i was told that i can book from Naton so went looking and lo and behold i found the PANTIP Co almost opposite the police station. My booking was done in a few mins and they printed out my tickets. Air con., 2nd class sleeper, bottom bunk both ways costing Bht 972 each. I am "chuffed"

It's a cracking trip too, but sadly for you the restaurant car will be long closed by the time you board...

It'll be open on your return leg though...happy days...I'm jealous....

Mate! i board at 01.26 so will just want to get my head down by then, anyhow thanks for the encouragement. I love train journeys. Last visa run i flew down to Singapore and traveled back to Surat Thani by train. Last time i came up that line was in 1953 but we got ambushed and shot up, just out of Ipoh by the CT's. Not this time though lolololol
