Supporting Documents For B-2 Interview. What Can We Provide To Help Our Chances

Featured Replies

Hi

We have decided to try for a B-2 tourist visa while we wait for
California to process our I-129. She is Thai and will be interviewing at
the Bangkok Embassy. I realize it is a L.O.N.G shot but I figure it
is worth a try. My understanding is the biggest hurdle is establishing
ties to Thailand and substantial reason to return.

She has no assets or substantial bank balances. I will be paying her
airfare, room & board. She has a daughter, but I'm not sure how to
bring that into the discussion, or if it will help establish a need to
return.

Anybody have actual experience or ideas for supporting documents which may help our case. Thanks

Here is a link with some info. Making the case that she will return to Thailand is the key.

Also, make sure you have the DO 160 filled out completely and correctly. Some pitfalls:

-Thai script for name looks optional. Our initial examiner required it.

-Print out the final form and make sure all prior names and other inputs made it in. Ours lost some of the names.

-Passport Book Number is the little bar code sticker on the back of the passport. It IS different than the Passport Number.

-Preparer must be the person who is typing the keys. Even though my wife sat next to me, the examiner said that does not count.

If I had to do it over, I would use a visa service that does this kind of thing on a daily basis. It is just to easy to miss something or misinterpret an item on that long input system.
