65 Day Round Trip Ticket Usa To Bangkok (But 60 Day Tourist Day Visa)

65 day round trip ticket on 60 day tourist visa

I bought a round trip ticket to Thailand for 65 days not concerned about the 5 days over the limit of my tourist VISA because I planned to travel over land to Ankor Wat towards the end of my trip, and then coming back and getting the 15 day visa extension for overland travel for my last week or two in thailand.

However the more I think about it the more I dont want to be tied down to going to Cambodia if I end up making other plans (like meeting cool people to travel with ETC...)

Anyways it will prob cost me about 200 dollars to change my flight dates now.

My other option would be getting a Visa Extension. It just seems like a big hassle because you can only do it 7 days before your current tourist visa expires and it costs like 60 bucks. Also it would suck if they deny me.

Does any one have any other ideas out there? Or should I pay the money and just have my flight dates changed. It just seems kinda sucky to pay 200 dollars to leave Thailand 5 days early. But it also seems even sillier to go through all this hassle for only 5 extra days of stay.

Any help would be appreciated!

You don't need a ticket out of the country if you have a visa which also means you don't need one within your period stay allowed by the visa.

You will have no problem coming back to the country and getting a 15 day visa exempt entry.

No need to change ticket.

You can get an extension of a tourist visa entry as early as two weeks without a problem. Some offices will do it even earlier.

It appears his issue is with paying 1,900 baht for extension of stay or for a trip (perhaps more) just before departure or paying for change of ticket ($200?). Overstay would cost 2,500 baht and risk arrest (small risk but still a risk). There are no options other than not making the trip which would likely be much more expensive.

A 30 day visa extension of a tourist visa will be granted upon request and payment of the TM.7 fee so would seem the logical answer if you do not actually want to travel during the last several weeks of your stay.

He mentioned a trip to Cambodia and getting a 15 day entry on his return to Thailand.

Unless he changed his mind which would mean getting the 30 day extension. Which is considerably cheaper than changing his ticket.

I forgot to mention that he should have no concern about getting the extension. It is virtually an automatic approval.

OKay i just was unsure about the VISA extension approval rate thanks for the help. Ill prob just bank on getting my VISA etendend while im over there

Note, unless your Thai Visa is a double entry, if you take a side trip to Cambodia, on return to Thailand all you'll get is the 15-day chop. Not a problem if towards the end of your 60 day visit, but if done earlier on, best to get a Re-Entry Permit from Immigration, which'd keep your 60-day entry "alive."

rolleyes.gif As other posters have pointed out you can extend that 60 day visa for a 30 day extension for a fee of 1900 Baht inThailand at your local immigration where you are staying.

That's probably your cheapest option if you don't want to leave Thailand.

You could also take a short trip to any neighboring country.

A return over a land border will get you a 15 day stay, but if you fly back into Thailand you can get a 30 day stay, but with the air fare for that flight back it might be than the 1900 Baht extension fee.

But it is still a viable option depending on what you want to do.
