Used 3/4th had to change between the two.

My stop watch went over the 19sec could have been more than 20 but only just but for sure not under.

On My own no load up. flat road. 1/2 tank + of fuel.

Only tests I've ever done with the 2KD-FTV VN turbo was my uncles smart cab prerunner 5MT. According to Dynolicious on my iPhone, 80-120km/hr was all over in 8.0 seconds (0-100 in 12.3s) - with no juggling or finger gymnastics required for the reading ;)

Are you sure you weren't driving a non-intercooler model 2.5L (102HP) or a non-VN turbo 2.5L (120HP)? - the engine being discussed in this thread is the 144HP version with the same max. torque (but different curve) as the 3.0L 1KD-FTV engine....

So nothing to do with the 2.5 liter the OP was looking at.

I did 0 to 100 today in 19 seconds in my black 3.0l vigo with a dog in the back.

The dog was it of the canine variety or was it an immensely fat BG? The large BG would obviously hinder performancebiggrin.png

Is fat the only ugly?

If the dog had its head sticking out in the wind, with big ears flapping about, you probably lost a good second with the extra drag.

It is known as a Drag Hound. The dog in the BMW is a Dashound, the one in the Benz is a Boredstifhound.sad.png

I did the timing myself not easy that's why I put about, one hand on the wheel eye's on the road & speedo with finger's poking about on the stop watch part of my watch and I came up with 19sec but I had to change from 3 to 4. 12.5 for the 80/120 on the tuna untuned.

If anyone would like to have a go it might make for some interesting figures.

Oh and it wasn't a truck load of Leo it was Tiger. Oh nearly forgot that last bit was a 'JOKE' peep's might not get the joke bit as M/D deleted it.

That puts images in my head of you, one hand on the gear shift, a stop watch in the other and the steering wheel held by your knees, both eyes looking in the rear view mirror lest the Tiger should become unstable and fall off the back, you've acclimatised well to driving in Thailand and will fit in very nicely. biggrin.png

But more seriously, your numbers may be right I don't know, these days I don't thirst for power and speed any more, I'm just happy if I can get away at the light without a queue of cars behind me all honking away for me to get out of the way - if I can hold my own against those around me, I'm happy.

yes not a pretty sight I did it on a very strate bit of the 1 not a car in sight I like you dont thirst for power just like to get passed thing's sharpish that's why the 80/120 is improtant to me I can now pull away from the crazy coaches/mini bus's that sit up your bum at 120+ and won't go away. I know peep's po,po the time's but I don't think I was far out as I did the runs twice on both car & pick up's

well you must have had some thing wrong, my 2.5 10-11 seconds every time 80-120 kph, I gave it ago several times yesterday on a 650 kilometer drive, mine was on straight bits of road though.

If you look at a previous post mine was the non vn turbo one. Sorry about any confusion.

Thanks for replies so far....

I had a drive in a Ranger (2010) model a few weeks back....they are a nice pickup but I didnt enjoy the drive nearly as much as the Toyota...I know there are new models out but I believe the waiting times are very long.....

I agree with the rainy season scenario regarding the 4x4 option but still cannot justify paying the extra for this....

Oh the dilemma!!:crying:

Rangers have a smaller engine to the 3.0 Vigo and they have a bigger turbo, however bigger turbos cause turbo lag. Driving a Ranger around Pattaya or BKK is in my opinion a nightmare. I rented a Ranger for a week to test drive before I bought my Vigo and Im glad I did, and glad I didnt buy a Ranger. The new Vigo comes with a VN turbo and VN means veriable nozzle. This is basically a turbo that can be a small turbo at low revs (no turbo lag) and a big turbo at high revs. Jeremy Clarkson said on top gear that the man who invented this type of turbo is a genius.

Pay the extra 70k and get the 4x4 3.0 G A/T. Top of the range one with all the bells and whistles. DVD, bluetooth, leather electric seats, cruise control etc. I was in the same situatiion and I know I would of regret buying the lower model. However the leather seats arent as comfortable as Fortuner ones. Does anyone have a pair of front beige Fortuner seats for sale? Looking for some for my Vigo.

Luggage Capacity always make me smile. Just look at the Ferang Nit Wits here, see em every week in Big C. Load Capacity of their Mellon Cart 1000 Kilos, and ten Villagers.yet the put one trolly load in the Air Con Bit. Then the Pussy Whipped Guy looks in envy at a Georgeous Suzi Swift that doesnt Biong Boing all the way Home like a freakin Kangaroo.:cheesy:

Putting groceries in the cab of a truck with AC is the right thing to do when its 34 degrees C outside.
