If you are going to use the Garmin in Thailand, at least most of the time, then the maps available for use are only available from Thailand dealers. Also I'd be aware of the special features like Junction View that are not available from US/European sourced units and are only available in Thailand (Thai OS).

Garmin is the best for Thailand. I'm currently running CN Thailand NT 2013.10 (Streetpilot) on my iPhone and CN Thailand NT 2013.10 (ESRI) on my Kenwood Car Audio/ Navigation equipement and my old Garmin Nüvi 200.

We used a Garmin recently, it was loaned to us from a car rent place in Northern Thailand. This particular model didn't have Thai alphabet, although it supported at least a dozen other languages. It did not allow punctuation in the address field, so entering a typical Thai address like "883/2 Onnut 47-49" was impossible. Take this into consideration when choosing your unit: Will it accept Thai addresses as written?
