The area between Ring I & 2 Rds., along the 118 (SanSai) AND the area along 108, between the two ring roads. I used to live near the 108, in Hang Dong, but I'm not familiar with the other area. Any comments?

You'll be able to choose from a few shopping centres: I often use Rimping at Maejo.

The highway tends to be somewhat frantic early morning, and there's always the worry that you might end up in a street/soi or whatever with DOGS! Untamed, loose, possessive and only awake through the night. Then there's the neighbours with the same.

I think any choice will depend on the specific house / development / village that you're in more than between each of these general locations; both being a similar distance from downtown and both having easy access to super/hypermarkets.

Depending on where you are in the Hang Dong area you may (or may not) have some more options to go into town, such as the Canal Road or along the river at Pa Daed. Not sure if that's truly a difference though. And being nearer to the airport can be a good thing, or it can be a bad thing if you're actually under the flight path.

I made extensive searches around all the rings, before settling on near the 1001 MaeJo.

Living between the spokes seemed pointless as it added to journey times.

SanSai Saraphi sections tended to flood.

Hang Dong likely to suffer aircraft noise and in itself a traffic bottleneck.

Doi Saket too far and crossing the river always a traffic bottleneck.

What exactly are your requirements?

looking for cheap/fixer studio-condo. Would like to be on a songtaew line, similar to Yellow on Hang Dong, but hopefully one thT runs all night. I don't do motorbikes. looking for convenience, more than quiet.....hate the soi dogs and the people that feed them. Saw some condos at Orchid Place in the 400K range........but I am also interested in PP Condo.

Ah. In that case, stay in town.

1. There isn't a songthaew line that runs all night in any direction. Early evening at best.

2. You're okay with a condo / studio.

Not easy to find a condo in the city for 400K. If something half-decent were available at that price, I wouldn't mind getting one myself as a pied-a-terre.

The older ones on either the Canal Road OR Charoen Muang near the railway station will work. Easy public transport near them, especially the ones on Charoen Muang. Or Wang Singh Kham, etc. Either way it's easier to find cheap condos just inside the superhighway ring compared to further out in the areas he mentions. And public transport will be a lot easier.
