How does traffic compare to 8 years ago? I see utterly no signs of urban planning; just random, haphazard growth.

The traffic has become congested and getting worst. Surely bumper to bumper from the hours of 4 to 6 PM in Chiang Rai city. You have a good point on urban planning and it seems to be an afterthought for sure. We saw that with the U-Turn at Central Plaza Mall. It appears that infrastructure bottle necks are dealt with as they occur rather than preplanned. It will be interesting to see where the water run off will accumulate when it rains hard. But you are right on. Go Navy....

That is just the way they do things. For example, they built the football stadium next to the airport, that being the important part. Later they started working on the infrastructure and parking area. There is a certain logic to doing the important stuff first.biggrin.pngthumbsup.gif

Traffic is a lifestyle choice. You drive a car - you suffer the consequences. You bicycle or ride a motorbike, traffic is a breeze...

I agree, I try to use my motorbike as much as possible now. Also makes it easier to park downtown where parking spaces are becoming a premium. Wang Come Hotel offers 20 baht parking, but then you still have to hoof it around. MB the way to go.....
