Visa Extention

Featured Replies

hello, so im travelling in thailand for few months, i applied for a visa before to enter so i get 2 months!

but i would like to stay longer, so i gonna extend it at a thai immigration office at some point and they gonna give me 1 more month!

Till now, im pretty sure of this information but i would like to know if after extend it 1 month (i will do that in ko samui!), can i go to the office and ask for an other extention of 1 month or 15 days?

So otherwise, i have to cross the border to malaisia and they gonna give me 2 weeks!but i dont think that gonna be enought, so i heard than if you enter by plane in the country they give you 1 month! so i wander if i flight from surat thani to kuala lumpur and come back on the same day, is it working?

do i have to stay a minimum of time in malaisia before to come back to thialand?

Thank you for you answer, hope you will anderstand

No.

Yes. You get permission to stay for 30 days (not one month)

No. You can turn around at the Malaysian airport and fly back to Thailand the same day. Keep your boarding pass in case the Thai immigration officer wants to see it.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Or you could stay overnight in KL and obtain a new tourist visa for entry of 60 days again - apply in morning at Thai Consulate and obtain next workday afternoon. Or do the same by bus/train to a place like Vientiane in Laos.

just one more question!

after reenter on the country with the plane with this 30 days visa, could i extend this visa in ko samui for 30 days or 15 days?

You could not extend for any time from a visa exempt entry. The most you would get is 7 days to leave on an unapproved request for extension.

Why not simply obtain a 60-day tourist visa in KL as lopburi3 suggests (I'm assuming that this would cover your remaining planned stay in Thailand in any event)? Subject to what the experts here may advise, I doubt whether you could extend your stay at Koh Samui Immigration by a further 30 days on the basis of a 30-day visa-exempt entry stamp.

Some questions for the experts, further to my previous posting. Would it be possible for the OP to obtain a multi-entry (as distinct from a single-entry) 60-day tourist visa in KL?

If if were so possible, are such visas treated for immigration purposes in the same way as multi-entry 90-day non-imm O visas? In other words, were the OP to do a land border run the day before his visa expired, would he then be stamped in again for a further 60 days from the re-entry date, notwithstanding that the visa itself would expire the following day (assuming, of course, that he completed the border run the same day with no overnight stay in the neighbouring country)?

Yes. Visa use before dates and period of stay are not connected other than the visa must be valid when entering Thailand to get the permission to stay.

There is no such visa - tourist visas are only sold by number of entries. So the answer is no you can not obtain a new entry day before expiration unless you actually have an un-used entry on your visa to use for it.
