Mailing It In For The First Time...

Recommended Posts

Newbie to Bangkok here on a non-immigrant B visa. I've been told that mailing your current address into Immigration is possible - and it sure sounds like the easiest way to avoid the journey out there and the wait. The question is how exactly does this work? I've yet to see any explanation or step-by-step process. Is there a template that works wonders, or some other way of getting the address reporting done?

Thanks in advance :)

You can post 15 days before the expirey date or no later than seven days after the expirey date. Send it by EMS mail so that you get a receipt, 1 you can track your mail and 2; if you do not get your letter back from immgration after about 10 days you can show it as evidence that you had and should not be charged for an overstay. Been here 8 years and it has not failed me yet.

Note that at some offices, and that includes Bangkok, you must mail in at least 15 days before the due date. Later and you can only appear in person!

The 15 days before until 7 days after is for passport being presented to immigration - not for mail reporting which must always arrive by due date and currently must be mailed 15 days before that date as clearly stated on the national immigration website. Believe most offices have not enforced this strictly yet but it may happen to some.

Send the mail before the renewal date 15 days to Immigration office

If you are here on a multi entry visa you must exit every 90 days or less so no address reports are due. You only do address reports if staying longer than 90 days. Address reporting is done by those on immigrant TM.7 extensions of stay.

If stamped in for 90 days, you do not report your address. Instead you have to leave the country after 90 days max, or ask for a 1 year extension of stay with company papers and show of work permit etc.
