Anyone Knows Where I Can Buy Crawfish In Thailand?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I been searching on Google for live crawfish. Can anyone help me where I can buy some in Thailand? Any help will be grateful.post-179371-0-51567000-1367629797_thumb.

Thanks in advance.

Dough, at Bourbon Street restaurant, Soi Ekkamai, breeds his own crawfish, for the dishes on his menu. Not sure if he is prepared to sell them live though. Just check with him.

Years ago I purchased a few from a pet/aquarium shop here and they breed like rabbits......not big enough to eat, tho.

A while ago, Rimping was selling live crayfish from the royal project. Not offering them now. Not sure if the Royal Project is still farming them.

My only question is why you would want crawfish? There are very few waterways in Thailand that are not polluted, and crawfish absorb the pollution. Prawns are just as good for eating and can be found in most markets. I apologize if the crawfish are not for eating.

Where do you think those polluted waterways empty out?

Prawns are farmed using all sorts of antibiotics in either fresh or salt water.

you are in denial if you think they are any better.

to be honest, i suspect you would give up on most meat products if you did some basic research

Why not try asking the Farmer's Daughter?

She posts regularly here on TV.

You know. MissFarmGirl?

I have a feeling she may cultivate aquatic species like fish and things.

A real nice lady.

She submitted a very nice post in response to one of mine.

Like somebody above said, check with Doug Harrison at the Bourbon St. Resturant in Bangkok. E-mail him through his website. He has been farming them for years

I agree with you. That is why I only eat chicken or pork when I'm in Thailand. Besides, I'm spoiled when it comes to fresh fish and sea food. I'm a west coast Canadian girl whose father fishes 100 + days a year. Salmon, cod, halibut, prawns and crab are every day meals. I almost get tired of it.

What, chicken and pork aren't full of antibiotics and grow fast whatever's in the LOS and quick monetary gain. You jest.Seafood ENVY.

Go out the Mae On road to where the road takes a right and goes toward the Alpine Golf Resort. Take that right. Then you go a few kilometers and do not turn but go straight at the road that would turn right to the resort and also goes to Baan Tee. Go a few kilometers and take a right. I'm not sure if it is marked but there is a lake/Royal Project station up there. I remember someone doing a post about it here years ago. There are a couple of reservoirs up there and a farm for crayfish. Try and do a search for places to go around Chiang Mai or a day out around Chiang Mai. I think that these are the coordinates but they might be wrong. It's been a couple of years since I have been up there.

The Royal Project grows crayfish and treats them like gold. They come in a foam box where each has it's own little compartment.
