PHUKET: Police climbed up a drug dealing ladder over the past week to arrest four drug dealers and seize 9,458 methamphetamine (ya ba) tablets.

At a press conference yesterday afternoon, Pol Col Arayapan Pukbuakhao, deputy superintendent of Phuket City Police Station, explained, “First we arrested Pornsak ‘Rang’ Ubooranaku, 41, on Monday (April 29), with 29 pills. From him we got the name of his suppliers.

“The following day officers arrested Thawatchai ‘Moo’ Kliengkade, 21, and Pattana ‘Maew’ Pohsri, 23, with 34.80 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ya ice) and 186 ya ba pills. We also found and seized a .38-calibre automatic pistol.

“They confessed that the drugs had come from Suthima ‘Jay’ Ji-Nga, 30. We arrested her on Thursday, in possession of 579 ya ba pills.

“Suthima told us that she received the pills from two women called Nattaya and Bee. She said she had also bought ya ice from them but had sold it already.

“On the same day we arrested Nattaya ‘Kwang’ Chairuek, 27, and seized 8,653 ya ba pills.

“When we got to Nattaya and Bee’s house in Soi Prachasamakki in Rassada, we found only Nattaya at home. She said that Bee was away in another province.

“We have obtained a warrant for her arrest and she is being sought.”
