Quick Question Regarding Centi - Millipedes

Featured Replies

I have those " things " in my lawn recently, and see them a lot walking over the footpad.

I don't know if it are centi or millipedes, haven't counted the legs biggrin.png , but they are of black color, about 2-3 cm long and move at a very slow pace.

No issue that they are there as I assume they are not harmful but as of lately they are coming into the house. When I spray them with Chaindrite to die in seconds.

What should I use to spray on the lawn to make them disappear ?

If they're centipedes they would well be harmful. Look closely at the legs. If there are 2 legs on each side of each body segment they are millipedes and are harmless. If it's 1 leg on each side they are centipedes and may give a very painful sting, so best avoided.

if they are slow, they are not centipedes.

The first one there I understand can give a good bite or sting... I have not experienced a bite yet!!!! you don't see them often, (usually) ...

The second one pictured just seems to roll it's self into a roly poly .... they don't from my experience do any thing else harmful ...

Not sure that spraying the whole lawn would be very environmentally friendly.... w00t.gifwink.pngI find them in the house occasionally dried up due to lack of water, I would guess!

It are definitely millipedes, and yes they roll them selfs up.

As I said in the OP already, I assume them to be harmless, but it seems I have a lot of them and they enter the house in big numbers lately.

Only this afternoon I discovered 6 crawling over the floor and few more that had dried out already, and I guess I don't notice all of them all the time, hence the fact I want to get rid of them.

Probably the rain driving them inside! wink.pngbiggrin.pngtongue.png

Not sure if you put the Chaindite power sprinkled at the doorways would keep them from coming in? (Tesco and Big C have)

Maybe a few millepide traps can help

Look at this website http://wartook.vic.a...lipede-invasion

I believe the way to catch these creatures is very clever & innovative; however; they ARE creatures and why do they deserve to die ? ? ? It was US to invade THEIR territory, why not take that bucket full of these small animals and set them free in some natural area well away from your home ? ? ?

We live near Jomtien and catch a variety of snakes on our properties, with some regularity. I invested in a special tool (with a fairly long handle !) enabling me to gently, yet firmly pick-up any snake and then walk across the road to a "jungle-area", where I release these snakes . . . . . simple.

Why are we all so intent of killing other creatures ? ? ? ?

Next time; please think before you kill !
