At Least 5 Climbers Killed In Philippines' Mayon Volcano Eruption

<p>MANILA, PHILIPPINES (BNO NEWS) -- The bodies of five climbers were recovered after a the Philippines' Mayon Volcano erupted on Tuesday, authorities said Wednesday.

</p>

<p>The volcano, which is located in the province of Albay, erupted on Tuesday morning, spewing ash and resulted in a number of climbers going missing. Search-and-rescue teams later found the bodies of five on Wednesday morning at around 6 a.m. local time.

</p>

<p>The climbers included three German nationals who were identified as Rolan Tietze, Furlan Stetler, and Joanne Edosa; one Spanish national, Fara Frances; and one Filipino, Jerome Berin, who was working as the tour guide. In addition, one Thai national remains unaccounted for.

</p>

<p>The phreatic eruption also injured eight others. Among them were four Thai nationals. Following the incident, the Philippine Air Force deployed three helicopters in the search mission near Mayon's Camp 2, which eventually recovered the five missing people.
