A couple days ago I read that there will be a new break wall around the "new marina" in chalong.

I guess that will be a little late.

Picture attached is about a week old, been there today after the swells coming in, it's even worth now.

Give or take, maybe by end of the low season it will be all gone

It doesn't help when speedboats race around and between the floating docks kicking up large wake. Normally (i.e. anywhere other than Thailand) there is a no wake rule in the marina, close to docks and moorings. If there is one here, it isn't obeyed, just like every other safety rule.

10 days or so ago we got a letter (laminated) from the habour department saying from shore to 1000m only 5 knot, fine if you break the rule 2000.-baht.

Overload with passenger up to 10000.-baht or jail.

Unfortunately there is not yet anyone to enforce it. There is no harbour master or any on water law enforcement presence in Chalong whatsoever. If the police need to get on the water in an emergency the police commandeer private dingy's I would imagine that would be pretty scary for most police, as it's unlikely any of them can swim. It really is time either the marine Police or Chalong Police find a budget for 24 hour on water presence. Even if there were a police boat assigned to the area, I highly doubt any of the speedboat "captains," who are the worst offenders, would be touchable.

Now it is in the paper too.

That will be a big issue to just fix it as Marine Chief Phuriphat Teerakulpisut said.

There are marine officers every morning on the pier, but just doing head count to passenger going on board.

They want it to go to shit, rubbish, crap.

How else to they get budgets to "fix" things.

Why do it properly once when we can do it 6 times half assed?

Im extremely happy that noone enforces it. Otherwise it would be another way to extract money from us farangs. Can you imagine sea admiral somchai with his radar gun standing at the pier booking people in small outboard tenders? Be careful what you wish for. If it doesnt affect you then ignore it
