Hull Or London For Non-Immigrant B Visa?

Featured Replies

Just a quick question, please. I will be applying for a non-immigrant B multiple entry visa in the UK in June and was wondering whether I should apply in London (my base) or Hull. Many thanks.

Hull would be best because it is an honorary consulate. They are less finicky about the documents required than the embassy.

They also accept mail in applications which the embassy does not accept.

I got mine in Birmingham, funny little place in office block. It took all of 15 mins from arrival to saying thank you, good bye. And it's only a 5 min walk from Birmingham New Street station.

I used this one as I live(d) in Daventry, Northamptonshire.

Thanks Dave; Never been to Birmingham; worth doing a day trip from London, you think?

Yes from London well worth it, cheaper than travelling to Hull. They have a website. Give them a call to check they are open on the day you wish to visit, there opening times, and down load there application form, as has the Royal Thai Consulate Birmingham forms.

Also good to double check the document requirements.

Used Birmingham last October whole procedure took less than 10 mins from walk in to walk out, after the previous nightmare day at Liverpool passport office it was a dream.

Brum is best, IMO. Done it there loads of times.

You don't actually need to go there though, can all be done by post and is almost always back the same week.

London is a pain in the ass for parking. Very hard to get in and out without a parking ticket so if you go there best not to drive.

Hull is a much more pleasant office and even better, accept postal applications with a very quick turnaround.

You don't need to travel to any of them give them a call first, make sure your docs are in order then send it all off in the post special delivery, with a special delivery return envelope.. You'll get it back in 2 days. (I did with Cardiff consulate)

Definitely use the consulates, they have financial incentive.
