Repeater Conflict On Galaxy Note

Featured Replies

I bought a TP Link router and set it up as a repeater to repeat the signal from my main router to the far end of my house. It works fine for most of the mobile devices we use: Ipad, Iphone, laptop, Galaxy S2. However, my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 will not receive internet from the repeater, only from the main router. If I am close to the repeater it times out when searching the net. If I turn off the repeater the Note will receive the signal from the original router and access the internet.

Any suggestions on how to access the Note with the repeater?

It could be an IP address conflict, or an issue with WPA/WPA2 - TKIP/AES.

On the Note "Forget" (delete) both APs, reboot both the router and repeater, turn the tablet off, then on, re-scan and add the repeater. We have a lot of issues with IP address conflict, and some devices seem unable to deal with AES. Also make sure the repeater is not using channel 14, and maybe use a different channel for the repeater and the router.

I use an Android app., https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer&hl=en'>WiFi Analyzer to choose the best channels based on my neighbors' usage.

Thanks Lomatopo. I followed your suggestion and reconnected to the repeater, which now works. But the main router does not.

I installed Wifi Analyzer. It shows both the repeater and main router using channels 9 - 13. Is it possible to set them up so that the repeater and the main router use different channels?

Also the AP list only shows one listing: TP Link on Channel 11.

Is it possible to set them up so that the repeater and the main router use different channels?

Yes, of course. In the router and repeater UI's you can select a specific, single WiFi channel for each device.
