We have recentley got the dive bug and fancy a trip to Koh Tao. We hear the diving is good there. I understand that we have to get there from Koh Samui, but how is the best way to go about it. Firstly, do we fly or is a bus trip an option. We are near Pattaya. Secondly: is it easy to get from Samui to Tao, and are the ferrys regular. Also is it easy to get accomodation on Koh Tao.

I also welcome any views on the diving on Koh Tao, and any recommendations for diving elsewhere.

Yes it is easy to get to Koh Tao from Samui or Chumphon (Express boat from Chumphon 2x a day .... about 400 baht and the fastest way to the island)

google the dive operators and they will often give you a couple of different ways to get there ...

Water clarity is an issue for diving in that part of the gulf at different times of the year ... worth looking into as well.

Both driving bussing and flying are options to get into that area. You can even do a train option to Chumphon
