When is the OBT going to do something about this traffic nightmare? Cant they bulldoze that shanti town behind home pro and make a by pass. An unhindered left turn out behind the police box would be good also.

They seem fond of underpasses here. Just so long as it doesn't rain. The circle becomes a raging river with just a splash of rain.

While were on the topic of lights and junctions, I have a couple stories I want to share.

I was on Chao Fa West this morning at the TOT lights and all the bikes were taking turns running the red lights from different directions. Quite comical I don't know how they determine who's turn it is to run the light, but they seem to have it worked out. At the next light there was a copper next to me and one numpty started to run the light coming from the left as ours turned green. He got a third of the way out, saw the copper, stopped and pushed himself back. Copper had a couple words for him as we passed.

Has anyone noticed the lights at the big Buddha turnoff? Both side streets get a straight green arrow and a right arrow simultaneously. This is telling traffic coming from both directions that they have the right of way to enter the intersection and go straight or turn! blink.png

Lastly, I was at the Central lights recently coming from the direction of Kathu waiting to turn right, or south, on Chao Fah west, and as the counter counted down to 0, all the bikes and a few cars headed across the intersection with 3-4 seconds left on the counter, as they do, but when the counter hit 0, the light stayed red! So I looked at the light for the traffic coming from the bypass and it was still green! I was expecting carnage as a big 18 wheeler with trailer was barreling towards the intersection with a green light while a pack of bikes and 2 cars came across it's path. The truck went crazy with his horn obviously confused why so many bikes and cars would suddenly run the red light. Somehow carnage was averted. This is actually the second time I have seen counters count down to 0 and not turn green, which is why I never jump lights here.

Didn't know about the big Buddha lights doing that! (Soi Thanuthep/Yotsane 2). I'll watch out for 'close calls' the next time I'm waiting there. biggrin.png

Central lights staying red - yes, that happened to me a few months ago. I started moving forward with the bikes - I was right at the front - and then they all stopped as the lights stayed red. Some stupid BIB was controlling the lights manually, I presume. Recipe for disaster.

I had a much worse experience on Chao Fah east at the Slaughterhouse traffic lights. I was heading north and there was about 8+ seconds left but no traffic in front of me. So I wasn't looking at the lights as I knew I would be across in about 3 seconds. Then they went straight to red. Some stupid BIB took control. What I don't know is whether the other lights go green instantly, or whether there is an automatic delay just like when they are on automatic control. I slammed on the breaks and stopped in time but now I watch the lights all the time. Some of those BIB don't have two brain cells to rub together.

I saw this also at Central junction some time ago. I too was expecting carnage but luckily it didn't happen.

I think it happens when the police first take manual control of the lights.

don't give them any ideas. close the whole circle down for 3 years and the only way from the north to wichit road will be behind homepro and then up to the orchid farm road

Yes, I thought the exact same thing. And perhaps when they put them back on auto as well.
