For 2 weeks you'll only be able to get hotel rooms. Most apartments want longer term contracts. Though Pathumwan House is part hotel and part longer term rentals.

Sure! There are a few dodgy spots. It's not posh, but quite ok. Big issue its truly in the heart of the city and that's what brings the grit and grind. Nearish the university.

I can 2nd Patumwan house, we stay here every time in Bangkok. We rent the 2 bed suite, is usually around 2.5k baht a night with living room & 2 bathrooms. They also do single rooms.

How far University from Mahboon Krong?

One is just down the street. Not sure about the others.
