90 Exception Confirmation, I Think.

Featured Replies

I am due to report next on Monday, July 8th. But, I am going to Cambodia on July 4 and returning on July 7. Is it correct that I have an exception and don't have to report again until 90 days from July 7? Thanks for any info.smile.png

Correct. But not reporting address is because you will not be here 90 days - not an exception but the law.

The law is to report after 90 continuous days in the Kingdom.

You will not be here for 90 days.

In my case, I am due for 90-day report on July 10th, and departing Thailand on July 20th for a 1-month holiday in USA. Would like to avoid this report date on 10th, and simply depart on 20th. That would be a 10-day "overstay" and a 5,000 baht fine, correct? Best to just do the 90-day report?

Nope.

The fine for not reporting would be 2,000 Baht.

Why not just mail your report and keep the EMS receipt for proof?

At most immigration offices you can report by mail. You can also have someone else make the report for you.

whistling.gif Yes, basically your reporting "clock" stops when you leave the country, and "re-starts" another 90 day reporting cycle on the day you return.

That's what the exit re-entry permit you get does.

So. be absolutely sure you get that exit re-entry permit if your on a retirement or marriage extension.

If you don't, and you're out of country on your 90 day reporting date, they CAN (if they want to) fine you for missing that date.

And, as they say, it's not smart to flip the bird at a tiger.

Re-entry permit has nothing to do with 90 day address reporting and if you do not stay 90 days you are not required to reports regardless of having a re-entry permit or not. But if you want to continue your current permitted to stay you need the re-entry permit for return.

You would not pay overstay for not reporting. The fine is normally 2000 baht for not making your 90 day report.

Immigration on departure does not check for the reports being made. You would be caught when you do your next report due 90 days from the date you return.

There are an exception to this.I have to report at the same day I file for extension to my retirement visa, and that is only ca 40 days after my latest 90-day report.

Only the first extension counts as a 90 day report.

Some immigration offices have you do a 90 day report along with your extension application.

Once when my next report date would of been shortly after my extension they made the date equal to when extension was running out.
