Anyone Else Have Their Luggage Lost At Cnx Recently?

My one bag didn't make it. I originated in the US on UAL, but used Star Alliance partners from SFO. I read something about 9 usd per pound, if they can't come up with it. What about the meantime? Should I be getting a per deim? I hope this isn't going to suck. My shaving foam alone will cost 10 bucks to replace here, a pair of brand new, New Balance would be quite expensive. Any clues?

Did you report it missing when you arrived in Chiang Mai? They should be able to track it and get it to you in the next day or two.

If nobody gives you an answer here, I would suggest going to FlyerTalk and making a post in the sub-forum of the specific airline.

Never lost anything in or out of Thailand o a lot of flights, hundreds, since 1993. Hopefully the worst that happens is that it arrives later couriered to your door.

A courteous rep from Thai saw me standing there at the conveyor belt approached me, and took a report. Did you have a short connection time? Actually it was 7.5 hours in BKK, where it was last seen.

Did you have any travel insurance? Most policies will pay for 'emergency purchases' in your situation. They allow you to claim for any stuff you have to buy while waiting for your baggage to arrive.

Follow up with the rep at baggage claim who took your report, you did get their name, phone number and a copy of the report, right? They will probably come up with the bag in a day or two. Has happened to me several times in the past 20 years. Bag late, not stolen, usually when flights are delayed or changed. They will deliver it to your place of residence usually.

For compensation questions contact the airline that checked your bag and your travel insurance company. Unless you like playing Sherlock Holmes any clues you get here will be of very marginal value.

Only had it happen once reported it to the Lady in the conveyor belt area.

It was on a flight with EVA air to Bangkok and then routed straight through to Chiang Mail I received a call the next day it had been located and would be brought to the hotel.

Over all I found them very helpful and considerate.

I don't know if my medical traveler's insurance would compensate. I stopped by the Thai office today, and first she said Holiday, come back Monday, then I told her last time this happened was 20 years ago, and I was given 750 thb per day to get stuff. The only stuff I brought was stuff that is quite expensive here.....pure cotton clothes, tall size, running shoes, and my trophy can of shave foam. She got on the phone and found it! It will be delivered tonight. Guess I want be looking for my missing clothes at every flea market I go to for the next three years. Does it ever seem like every time you visit a foreign country, it is a holiday?
