Doubt you'll find FWD Diesel engine/gbox easily Thais don't do diesel in that type of vehicle apart from Ford Focus only other ones i can think of are imports VW/Skoda/ KIA and when they go wrong they replace them with benzin engines , if the NV has a carb engine put a newer 1600 injection motor in it or even a 1800/2000 to probably get better fuel econ if you can resist heavy use of the loud pedalwink.png .

LPG conversion would be cheaper I guess.

As said above the problem is FWD even if you can find one and either mate it to your drive shafts or gearbox then you have the problem of whether it will fit under the bonnet.

Either as said convert to LPG or sell the NV and buy a diesel pickup instead.

If it really is only managing 5.75kmL (16 mpg UK) have you tried servicing the beast recently, filters, oil, plugs? You'll need to do it anyway to get the best out of an LPG conversion.

EDIT Same advice as you were given back in January http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/615737-how-to-reduce-fuel-usage-of-12-year-old-nissan-nv-15-car-pickup/ did you do any of the suggestions at all?

Come on Sandman, surely you haven't run out of ideas for new threads?

No diesel engine available for this model. Tune up the engine correctly and service them. Check injectors, all sensors, specially the temerature sensor who gives signal to the ECU. If they are faulty, the engine uses to much fuel. Check oxigen sensor as well. And forget about those unflexible dealership services. Use a good autoelecrician (channg fy). Dealerships don't finnd your problem. All what they can do is service new cars. Complicate things they are unable to repair. Engineswap is uneccesarry. Those little 1600 engines are powerful and fuelefficient. You can't put a better engine in this car. Just spend a few tousend to makke it right. Wery important to see: If you flooor the pedal to the metal, does it smoke black from the exhoust? If so, than is devenvely somethiing wrong with the fuel innjection system.

I agree, that's horrible mileage for that model. Sandy definitely needs to look at air filter, plugs and dizzy cap.

Stingray's post is good. A new diesel engine could cost more than the car's value.

I doubt a main agent would take on the conversion job. Its not just about physically mounting the engine, the wiring harness is different, the fuel lines/filters are different, (feed & return on a diesel, feed only with a petrol) even the dash warning lights. (no glow plug warning light on a petrol model).

If you could sell it for what you paid for it ? maybe best option for 150,000 you could buy a Ford or Mazda Diesel pickup around the same year or even a Skoda Diesel car or estate/wagon.

Notice people appear to fit the Nissan Diesel to older Volvo's 244. 740 and 760 models..these type of cars have a much larger engine bay..... but most get fitted with the 1JZ petrol engine.

Even if you could find a diesel engine that would fit in your NV, what would have to be upgraded to carry the extra weight + what Lancashirelad said, don't think it would ever be worth it..
