We applied on March 11th 2013 for a fiancee settlement visa for my g/f to visit the UK with a view to getting married in September this year, in the UK.

Thursday this week we had the refusal notice.... based on financial reasons lack of supporting evidence please find attached.

I have been in touch with my accountant who is busy preparing accounts and gathering the necessary information.

I am now completely at a loss in deciding which direction to go, and wonder if anyone here can give me some help.

1. When can I apply again for the same visa, so we can get married on the date that we have planned for in September.

2. When the accountant sends the required information I was going to send it all to the embassey and beg for help, have i got a chance they may have a

second look.

3. How about an appeal they seem quite long winded - can I send the required documents to my g/f who could take it to BKK to save the 6 weeks it stays here.

She has been to the UK last year unfortunately missed the summer but we had a great time, I've never been so happy together family love her, was so sure we were going to get it this time, shes now talking bout going to Korea to pick strawberry s with her sister for £20 a day....thinking I might chuck my business in and join her...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My advice dont do it.

Re apply with all the relevant documents. It doesnt appear a very strong relationship if she has given up and wants to go to Korea.

That just sounds like bad luck! especially after the riff raff I know to have easily got visa's for their thai girls! Maybe use a reputable agency.. they charge a few quid but they don't let you submit the docs if it would get refused.. Your circumstances seem complicated!

I'm not normally an advocate of visa agents, but this could be an exception!

Thanks but we are a little bit past the dont do it stage..positive attitude has taken over....and yea the picking strawberry's was an option I am carefully considering...along with my everyday duties such as digging holes and managing a team of imbeciles..can you tell em if I can make an application immediately ?? settlement fiancee visa app.

He didn't submit what he needed to submit e.g. recent vat return, most recent accounts etc. Luck didn't come in to it.

I'm the same with the visa agents thought we could do it ourselves and save a grand...looking like it could cost me 2 now...plus g/f spent 15hrs on buses for no apparent reason...

I'm not normally an advocate for these guys, but they would have ensured the paperwork was in tip top shape!

You didn't submit the required documentation, you also showed, on your P60, that you declared an income for tax purposes of £6,900 for the whole year but you have nearly £3,000 a month coming into your account.

So, you didn't find out what the requirements were before you submitted the application, or if you did, you ignored them and hoped for the best. Now, unsurprisingly, you've had a refusal.

Do you have the required documents?

If you have, then apply again (perhaps using some of the money you haven't paid in tax?).

If you haven't, then go and pick strawberries in Korea.

I think you will need to make a new application. You can try submitting all of the documents when you receive them, and ask the ECO to reconsider, but I think he will probably say that you should have submitted the correct documentation in the first place. The visa fee you paid is not just for a visa to be placed in your girlfriend's passport, but for the ECO to consider and process the application, and that is what he did. If you are going to give him all of the documentation to look at, then that is asking him to do the job again.

An appeal will take up to 8/9 months.

You can apply again whenever you want. There is no requirement to wait any length of time before resubmitting an application.

Be aware that, if you do not supply everything that is required, you will be refused again.

I can't give you much help regarding the ins and outs of the finance visa but my wife and I recently completed an appeal for our refused settlement visa.

As ThaiVisaExpress said the appeal will take a long time. Ours took 8 months, 10 months all in all counting the original application. It wasn't too bad waiting as I am living and working here in Thailand. If it means you have to live apart, that would be hard. If you can afford it I would do a fresh application.

The form that you should have sent is an SA302 from HMRC. It shows total income. The P60 is a waste of time plus if you really wanted to you make up your own one as you generate it yourself if you are running your own business..
