Report Israeli Tourist Sparks Outrage Over Shoe Rule Dispute in Thailand
Many people go to israel and do not follow local customs/social behaviour. I went to the one of the Churches and removed my hat as I was taught to do. A European did not and was admonished by one of the church wardens. In many of the religious locations, Europeans show up in skimpy attire and make fools of themselves. Unlike in Thailand no one turns it into a cause celebre. They are asked to cover up. Some leave in a huff. The woman had permission from the cafe to wear her shoe. She was suckered by the person recording and like a gullible idiot got into an argument with him which was recorded. -

Problem Nr 1 here, payment problems.
In theory, I agree with OP. In practice: Thai bank branches are plentiful - and quite useless. In my home country, my trust in the few remaining branches was a bit diminished when I had to teach the housewife sitting in front of a screen, masquerading as a banker, how to do her job. That was 10 years ago, things have gotten much worse since then. The last time I had a question, my branch called me. 20 years ago, it would have been the branch manager. 10 years ago, regular staff, but he knew more about banking than I. 5 years ago, a housewife. Last month, a very sweet young female voice that made me feel like a pederast. But maybe she was 15 already, certainly didn't sound older than that. -

Thanks. My marriage was registered with the Embassy and local Amphur and I'm happy for her to keep the Thai assets. Will speak to a solictor about ensuring she has income from my estate. -

America Is Already Great Innit Mates
Travelling USA from 1984 to 1995 I got a seriously reality check while experience everything else I thought USA was and about. Minnesota visiting family was my first trip, and not so much different from what I thought USA was about, but going east and south changed my perspective radically, and the state Washington I truly saw poverty, and the same in Florida, but different. China have already passed USA in so many ways, technology vise and will and power to execute essential projects faster and better than what we can do and perform in the west.
